    dope! as an experienced marketer, tik tok is interesting to watch from afar. great breakdown on being successful with tik tok. i'm sure things will change, but this was a simple concept to pick up. thank you! one other tip that's similar to the reddit tip... discord groups. rather than just promotional stuff on a discord server ("check out my newest song blah blah blah"), build relationships with others within the server. then when you post a new song you released, you're more likely to get people to comment or react to it. for what it's worth, the echo wasn't too bothersome for me lol.

    @@yusuf1608 Honestly I believe that building a strategy is really important but the key is consistency in the creative process. There's no reason to post daily or to force yourself in the marketing activities if it kills your creativity or your inner peace. I believe it is a different job and it is better to collaborate with some agencies. What I found really annoying is that there are tons of channels that pretend to teach you how to market yourself but when you offer them money to do the job they refuse to collaborate or pretend to be payed in advance, without any agreement on the results and without providing any metrics to evaluate the performance of the collaboration. So basically I am unsubscribing from lot of these pretentious channels and I am focusing on playing live gigs. The results are way better and word of mouth is still a powerful thing😎

    I love these videos, they are super helpful. But I have a question for Burstimo , would you guys say there's a difference between an artist and a content creator? I realize that Tiktok is a great platform for promoting music. But I'm afraid to commit to creating a ton of content because it takes away from the creation of my music. I don't want to get trapped into becoming solely a TikToker, if you know what I mean. I know artists have to create content to a certain extent yes, but my question is. What is the difference between a content creator and an artist, if any at all?

  • @onyxxproductions8187

    @onyxxproductions8187

    3 жыл бұрын

    They have asked this several times in their interviews with people in the industry and the answer is: it depends. For some artists, being a "content creator" works for them and leads to fan engagement with original music. For others, it's disingenuous. Keep in mind that creating music, like covers, is still content. So you can focus on just music in whatever capacity and post that as content on all of these platforms. One big problem with TikTok is that you can have a viral video that has nothing to do with music, and you can gain a lot of followers from it that don't engage with your music-related videos. For some artists, the followers cross over, but others they don't. You won't know until you try. The example he gave, the artist created viral content with their own song. This same approach may or may not work for you. You just have to try it and see what happens.

    To cover a song is to sing another artist's song. The key here to making this work is to cover songs of artists whose fans you think might like your music. You can make a KZread video of your cover and then post snippets of the video as content on other platforms like TikTok and Instagram.

    Here we go with TikTok again. The problem with TikTok is that your brand is never attached to you as an artist. You will always be that guy that either had a hit on TikTok or who does TikTok videos. Do you think Tones and I or Arizona Zervas are known for being good artists or are they known for having their song annoy people for months? Alternatively, can you find us an artist who's managed to gain a fanbase entirely independent through TikTok that isn't Lil Nas X? A real fanbase one that is interested in the artist and what they provide not for having a song pop off on the platform. You become the person known for TikToks in exchange for the real thing. Is that what you're really pushing? I thought your aim was to help people get fans of the artist not their TikTok persona. Arizona Zervas, Trevor Daniel, Tones and I. All had a hit on that song and as of October 2020 nobody cares about what else they have to do that isn't about their TikTok hits. This is a sad thing and it's even sadder that a PR company that aims to bring real fans that care about the artist and not just their product is advocating for this. Burstimo is just providing a way to get traffic with TikTok regardless of the unintended consequences of using said methods. As long as they see the numbers they deem it as an effective strategy when it's far from the case. Since Old Town Road we've only had 1 Lil Nas X and a bunch of one hit wonders. As for the rest? Yeah, it's pretty much-recycled advice from their older videos which is expected.

    Below are the KZread channels of the artists you've mentioned. They're doing just fine. They're all receiving 100k+ views on every video they upload and millions of views on actual releases, they would certainly not have that if they were thought of as "the artists known for having their songs annoy people for months". You have to accept you're falling behind the times and the industry is moving without you. Had we been living in the 1920s you'd be saying that radio is pointless and they're just artists known for being played on tinny speakers in people's houses rather than going to the local opera house to experience the real thing. kzread.infovideos kzread.infovideos kzread.infovideos

    TikTok is just a social media platform, not a hitmaker. The reason to use it isn't to have the viral hit. It's just social media. It's exposure, no matter how big or small. You can make KZread videos and spend 10 minutes to post a piece of your video on TikTok and it doesn't take any more time than to post that same piece on Instagram. You shouldn't count on TikTok blowing up your career, but you shouldn't blow it off either anymore than you should blow off IG, KZread or Twitter. The only platform that is almost obsolete these days is Facebook.

Once you get into the first major editorial playlist, witch I did, you will be on their radar - WRONG! got supported from Djs like David Guetta, or Don Diablo, 400 radio airplays and 10k in 48h once released...and is ZERO attention from editorial. I am not talking here about 2k£ spent on marketing just for Spotify presave campaign( 15000 presaves, 8 music blogs placed before releaee day and pitched 5 weeks in advance! Nothing of this is helpful for editorial - is just about direct connection with certain editors!

    Those music based social media accounts always charging just to share when sharing is free. instagram needs to stop those accounts that just take money and dont know how to promote. most of those accounts that have reached out to me on their own are usually from india and are liars. i ask them where are they from they say some random state, I ask them 3 times then on the 4th answer they say india. then i tell them.. i cant work with you because you lied to me. then i block them. its hard to find authentic accounts willing to share for the love instead of taking money.

    It works for some and not for others. Tai Verdes just blew up on TikTok and has a song with 1 million streams. His song before that did okay, but this one really took off. He was very aggressive trying to get people to use one of his songs in their videos, even offering people $ if they used it. That campaign built up his followers so this new track took off. Skandra also had a marketing ploy getting people to stream her song to help her get 1 million streams. I really think a lot of people find music on Spotify first and then use it in their TikTok videos which augments exposure, so music discovery can go both ways. Don't count on only TikTok, but don't discount it either.
