3 Examples of Growing Tamarind Trees in the Food Forest

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this video, I share my experience growing tamarind trees from seed and from trees grown from cuttings which I found at a local nursery. I am in zone 10a central Florida near Orlando. Tamarind grows well in this zone but suffers from an occasional frost impact.
On this channel, I help you to create your fruit forest. I also introduce you to all kinds of new and interesting plants, and I let you know how to get them. Most of the plants and trees I cover are edible, but some are just plain beautiful! PLEASE SUBSCRIBE and TURN ON ALL NOTIFICATIONS, New Videos and Live Streams all the time.

The sweet tamarind are grafted? I have germinated seeds from tamarind sold in 1 pound mini bricks . Don’t know how old bricks are. Apparently the acid keeps seeds viable. Just lightly scratch/file a small part of seed with sandpaper or nail file then soak overnight or plant immediately .

Nice! I went to A tree for me in Sabastian a few years back and got some trees..I got them on discount after Matthew...lol..Not sure if its the same place you went.. I would like to take another trip there one of these days.. I got a Florida prince peach tree and Barbados cherry.. A couple other things, I forget.. I just got some tamarind seeds from my neighbor.. Gonna see if I can get them going.. Thanks for posting, greetings from the Space Coast..👍🇺🇸✌

Oh wow! Yes, that place is really cool (A TREE FOR ME). Time for me to go back down and drop 300 on some palms. I want a royal and a couple more picabeans.

I had brought back tamarind seeds from Puerto Rico. Not sure what kind they are but they tasted sour/sweet when I was eating them. I sprouted mine in a damp paper towel. I now have one growing in a pot but it's getting a little pot bound. It was not growing straight up. It was more so growing outward with very long horizontal branches. I think it's about time to put it in the ground though. Just trying to decide where.

I would place them in a very sunny spot. I am glad I staked mine, they definitely want to grow in a low weeping way.

I love tamarind but they make my teeth very sensitive so I don't eat it very much. They look like they are in the acacia family like black locust or desert acacia tree.
