3 Essential Things to Do on the WLTOYS 124019

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Welcome back to the channel!
So today we take a look at the 3 essential things to do on a 124019
This brand new buggy by WLTOYS is an extended wheelbase version of the 144001 and unfortunately does
come with some of the issues the first buggy suffered with.
But dont worry today we will address the 3 minor issues and they can be easily solved
to make this buggy every bit as good as it should be.
Bigbeard RC Unboxing: • Wltoys 124019 Unboxing
We will be taking a look at:
2:12 Shock Oil
A very common issues on these and the previous WLTOYS 144001 was shocks being underfilled or overfilled
Under filled shocks would result in improper operation and effect the potential of the shock itself
Over filled would result in the shock not being able to fully compress
3:42 Diff Grease
The most important thing on this list in my opinion.
The diffs are almost always never greased properly on these resulting in that famoud crunching sound and grinding.
Easily solved by using some high melting point lithium grease or whatever you have available.
8:05 Toe / Camber Adjustments
NOTE Its not fully clear on the video but you want to undo the top tie rod to adjust camber and bottom tie rod to adjust the Toe also refer to the diagram to know the difference.
Everyone wants to go in a straight line right?
I found my 144001 and my 124019 had this issue out the box the camber and or Toe was not set correctly resulting
in the buggy pulling to one side or cause unnessary wear on the tyres
This is similar to what you would do with a real car when it comes to steering tracking and alignment
Now we dont have advanced computer systems for RC cars to help fix this alignment issue so
it is very much how it looks to our eye but these small adjustments can have a massive impact on the steering of your brand new 124019
This was slightly controversion on my 144001 video and many said a little bit of toe/camber is good
again this is personal preference i think if you are intending to do speed runs this is not something you want to overlook
as it will help with straight line stability.
If at any point you want to revert back to my 144001 video you can find it here: • 3 Essential Things to ...
Apologies it may be my most popular vid but its also one of my older ones so audio/video may not be
as good as today but its still an enjoyable video to watch.
I hope you enjoyed this little insight in to how to do these 3 basic maintenance tasks to help preserve your brand new buggy and i hope you
get hours of excitement and enjoyment out of it just like i do!
Many more vids coming on this one in the coming weeks including a brushless conversion so stay tuned.
Cheers guys and have a great day!

*MERRY CHRISTMAS* I know a lot of people probably asked santa for a 124019 so be sure to do these 3 essential things to make sure you have a fun and action packed Christmas! A lot of my inspiration to make this video came from the original 144001 3 essential items which has proved to be really popular on the channel so if things aren't clear on this one be sure to revert back to the old one as these models are essentially the same just a longer wheelbase! Have a wonderful Christmas and I will be seeing you all in 2021 where we will have an amazing year of RC on the channel! Take care, stay safe and enjoy your RC goodies (If you were good!!) 😎❤🥰😍

I can't remember without going back and finding it, but did you take the toe in off the rear wheels on the 144001, and would you do it to this? 👍🏻

Yes I did well spotted. That was actually in my optional things to do on the 144001 video! 100% as mentioned my intention is to go brushless and see how fast i can get this baby to and want everything to be as perfectly straight as possible. I will also be doing another vid demonstrating those optional things again but with this 124019 the rear toe, droop screws etc. Not essential for the running of the car but will definitely help! Expect that video very soon! Merry Christmas 🎅

@@beyondRC I think there were 6 things I did to my 144001, the droop screws being one of the extra 3. 👍🏻 My son loves his HBX16889 that he got for Christmas. Good job I ordered the oil filled shocks, as it handles a whole lot better with them. 👍🏻 Merry Christmas to you and yours. 👍🏻

Man.... I wish there was advice like this given on the 144001 back about a year and a half ago. It would have saved me a SHIT TON of grief and anxiety. I hated dealing with broken everything when the 144 1st came out and we did not have many replacement part suupliers, except for the LC racing parts cross reference, that didn't fit quite right back then. Funny how time changes everything!!! The helpful videos like this along with the fact that WL Toys started making essential replacement parts that were much needed to run these beasts of 144, 124 prefixes have MADE ALL THE DIFF'S MAN, THANK YOU!!! 👍‼️💯

When adjusting camber and toe, you should use gauges so that both sides are the same. Also when adjusting toe and camber you should twist the centre of the rod instead of unscrewing the end link. One more thing to adjust would be the ride height. This car comes from the factory set at a very high ride height. This adjustment can be made via the shock collars. Good info though, great job. I'm having great trouble taking the shocks cap off. When using the pliers, do you place it on the black plastic part or on the metal cap to turn? I don't want to snap the black plastic if it's not supposed to be taken off that way. Even trying with the metal cap, it's really tight. Have tried holding base end with another set of pliers. Just want to know the exact technique and placement as it's my first time taking shocks apart and everyone doesn't show their first few attempt on the 124018/9.

  • @beyondRC

Take the spring off so its out the way. Grip the body of the shock and pliers on the metal cap and turn it should come off just be careful not to bend or break anything! Not sure why they are so tight on the 124019's as the 144001's came off quite easily.

For speed runs also take out the toe in on the rear wheels, simple job by removing the 2 screws holding the metal plate at the rear of the chassis. Then turn the 2 plastic inserts that are held in the metal plate, these plastic inserts have 2 holes in each insert that hold the A arms hinge pins. By turning the inserts it moves the hinge pines further inboard & setting the rear wheels straight with no toe in.

Is this because of braking... maybe it won’t let me go straight from forward to reverse at speed to protect the gears?

  • @2wyldrc195

    @2wyldrc195

    3 жыл бұрын

That is totally normal. The car will try to protect its gears by doing this. Normally the car will brake until it is stopped and then will need another tap on reverse to get it moving!

When you link the cars to buy from Bangood are they from your prefered sellers because there are many selling the same cars. Do you have a history with buying from the people you link and is it safe to purchase from them? I have a bad history after buying things from China etc. Cheers.

Banggood deal with all the sales there are no multiple sellers like aliexpress anything bought on banggood is sold and processed by them. Banggood are an extremely reputable company I work in close contact with them on a daily basis. Most of the cheaper cars on the channel are sent to me by them to review and they have never let me down!

I'm new to the hobby - just wondering if you guys ever get these metal parts kits. Does it help with durability??

  • @beyondRC

    @beyondRC

    3 жыл бұрын

Hey welcome! So i only ever ran a metal kit on an RC once and found that they can help durability but where they make one area stronger on an impact the energy just gets sent to the next weak point and will break there so in fact what they are trying to solve they actually cause the same issue. Its like trying to fix one problem then causing another. Thats my opinion anyway but there are many different views on metal kits. Plastic has the ability to flex and that is why you cant go wrong. My opinion anyway...
