Good morning from Los Angeles, I love this type of videos👍 Thank you for sharing 🙏 Can you please make more videos like this. Thank you in advance & have a beautiful day 😊✌🏼🫶🏼
The wall Art is my fav! Well done.
I've made some Walnut Ashtrays as well and was happy to see you mentioned LOTS of sanding. There fun to make for gifts and I enjoy a good Cigar everyone in awhile.

They do take alot of sanding that's for sure lol.
The Bob Ross of carving. Just a few more trees. A cloud or two, some running water.

Thanks
Check out the king Arthur’s sanding system. It would be perfect for sanding that ash tray.
Awesome video

Great Video. Wondering, do you have any advice or insight on Kutzall's shaving DISH versus their shaving DISC line. I know the shape is more cupped for the dish and that both shapes are available in all grits, but was wondering what your experience has been!

I honestly haven't used the disk. I'd assume it depends on what you're using it for. They probably both have thier place. I typically use the dish to rough it out then switch to sanding to get the final shape. 👍
Kutzall are _so_ expensive here in South Africa - over R600 for one burr!
nice👍👍👍🇯🇵
I also use Kutzall. I have one of their wheels plus a whole bunch of their burrs and I am very happy with the way they perform! I had one question...can you tell me if the finish you used on the ashtray was home made or did you buy it commercially? I Have been looking for a quality oil and beeswax finish that give a soft, hand rubbed look to purchase. Thanks again!!
Use carbides instead. You'll live longer. They make more chips and less dust.

Kutzalls make more dust, but are less likely to cause horrific injury. My way of dealing with dust is to work outside in breezy weather.
I have to say that I really like your little projects. They're really well done and I can easily see that you like your craft. I just have one thing to say though! Do you really think that a cigar ashtray made of wood is really a good idea? All you need, is one old beered belly bloke, sitting in his favorite chair in his underwear, with a lit cigar or cigarette and he falls asleep on his chair (Fire Hazard) Don't you think? But it's beautifully made though. NOT AT ALL pointing at the art itself, but only what its made for.. Thanks, I really like your videos.

Haha idk I'm not a smoker but I have a few friends that are and use wooden cigar ash trays 🤷♂️ I appreciate the feedback and support though!

Wooden ash trays are like wooden candle holders. Beautiful, but...
What chop saw are you using in this video?
Sorry if you already addressed this, I don’t have audio while watching this but do you not think there’s much risk of the kutzall dish biting the wood and kicking back or something? I ask because I noticed you didn’t use the guard which would require less movement of the piece for power carving but imagining that dish hitting my body at 10k rpm or something is a pretty scary thought.
Did kutzall discontinue their contour wheel? I cant find it on their site
So interesting! Not sure we get shaping discs here in South Africa - is the motor a normal small angle grinder? Than you!

Where are you, Kathryn? I'm in Citrusdal. Never heard of dish sanders.
hi, It looks like you used the Kutzall extreme carving wheel. Is that better than the original carving wheel?
@WalkersWoodworks
Жыл бұрын
I've only used the extreme I'm not sure.
What do you mean when you say Kutzall sponsored the video? Is it a payment by views, single payment, commissions, free discs, etc? Just curious.
Pet peeve.. ... if you have a complete workshop, great.. if not, ... 😢
Its not that easy....I have to go learn about all those tools now lol

You could do the abstract flat carving on a lathe?

@@WalkersWoodworks I think they were talking about the first piece. Turners…if it takes longer than 10 minutes, it’s taking too long for them.
I wish you’d use hand tools and not big powers tools soo much. I mean did you really have to plane it with that big power tool lol …

Yes. Yes I did lol
