And to criticize this cartoon for having some butt thing going on is really unfair especially when CN shows have always had butt related stuff in their shows even to this day. And it's not like this pilot couldn't make the show because of the elephant and hippo, think about the pilot for Powerpuff Girls, it was literally called Whoopass Girls and even made it onto the Powerpuff Girls complete series DVD. So it's not fair to say this cartoon couldn't become a show because of what it contained, heck it's a lot more appropriate than the shows that came out afterwards.

This could at least be made into a miniseries. I’m sure it’d be a great show celebrating the different eras and styles of music

Fun fact: I am the anon who ripped these shorts. I remember screen recording these Cartoonstitute clips off of Sling in 2017. I remember editing out the commercials in iMovie as well. Thank you for uploading them. They are no longer in my MEGA anymore and I thought I lost them.

dude, if so, you've done us a great service alongside the channel here. This was my favorite pilot that never got a pass on CN. Thank you (both) so much. The last upload was like a decade ago and blurry af, as was the style at the time.

The fact that cartoon network will never do anything with this but will hold on to the copyright so no one else can use the characters/music is mind boggling. A great show that came at the wrong time, honestly it would've done really well today considering how much the gap between age and genres has closed in the past decade alone.

I think move them up a decade each. Sly is more 70s, think maybe even moving into the funk/disco transition; he’s got the disco ball and the Boogie Nights text by his hammock, which is a film set in the late 70s. Stavros seems more 80s synthesized music, such as Kraftwerk like prev folks said. Loubie goes into 90’s.

This is one of my favorite shorts, because it's one of the few music-themed cartoons with actual music tracks that are bangin' enough to actually hold up the concept. Disco, house, electrofunk, and a lot of incidental sounds from 808s and beat machines, these dogs definitely keep it bumpin'!

Uncle Grandpa is like secret mountain fort awesome or problem solverz - nonsensical etc. a lot of new cn and disney xd shows were like that (billy worm or whatever, pickle and peanut, two more eggs, mixels, oggy and the cockroaches, more probably). And I just don’t know why this ever became preferred by the networks over the more charming stuff.

I can "get" why it might have failed the cut. Some useless 70 IQ executive probably whined that the show couldn't carry episodes. After all, there's no "hook", the dogs just show up to a place and do a show, so it would have to essentially just be a show about nothing (objectively the best kind of comedy show). While the show would've likely been great, I can "see" why it would be passed up for pilots that could demonstrate a clearer set up.

Watching these three dogs in action, for whatever reason, made me think of a more cartoonish, non-sensicle version of *It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia* And that show is golden.

This just screams early 2000’s show. And I love it!

It’s sad this never got a show, but the guy who produced it, Paul Rudish, ended up working on the new Mickey Mouse cartoons and I think his style from this shines through there in many ways

I'd do ANYTHING for this to be a show omgg.

I come back every now and then to watch this cause it’s so good and wish it was an actual show

10 seasons, 5 movies, 3 holiday specials, and a 'Very Special Episode' about heroin addiction, fight me.

This is the greatest pilot ever. You know what. I want this to be on max. This show needs to be made. The creative character. The colors and music. It perfect.

I only just learned about this short recently and I gotta say, if this short had the chance to become a fully fledged show back in the day, it would have served as an effortless homage to the 90s era of Cartoon Network. So much untapped potential here.

This is such a good pilot, and I hope they bring it back because the classic animation style would be a breath of fresh air. As much as I love the 'bean mouth' cartoons, this fluidity and 90s style would be great.

I am so glad this is on youtube, I missed this pilot so much! I love Electricity playing at the end, the song was waaaay too catchy to forget when 3 Dog Band appeared on CN! I still can't believe this didn't become a TV show, the character's personalities, their designs, the blend of music from the band, each with their love of the 60's, 70's, and 80's, and animation is too good to say it doesn't have "full series" potential!

Maybe not, unless the creators of this short reveal who sang in it. 2nd Option: Michael Kohler used to produce music for bumpers and ads for Boomerang and Cartoon Network from the 90's until late-2017. Maybe he knows who sang it He currently works for Bluetube. 3rd Option: Someone who worked in the Cartoon Network Studios Europe or Asia division might have produced the song. Which is a big possibility because the vocalists of this song sound kinda sound like British or Australian.

I think Theres two songs that play, the first one plays when they get there and ends when lubby stuffs himself in the vm, and another song when the keys guy is plugging in his shit. They sound like different songs. I also really like the music when theyre going to the bus

The background music is SO GOOD, is it original music for the show?

I love this short! It's just so excellent and the DJ cycling off gets a chuckle out of me every time.

Right off the bat, sly would've been my favorite character (if this show actually existed ofc). From his character design to the voice acting, I'm drawn to him for sure.

I love this pilot so much and I agree it should've gotten picked up, but I think I might have a reason it wasn't? It does seem to rush through a lot while not having time to actually focus on anything, which makes the pilot feel like it has no plot. They get out of the issue of getting to the club by just teleporting, which makes that whole bit feel pointless, and then they get out of ruining the party by just moving on, so it doesn't feel like there's ever any story really, just a series of events. That said this is easily just a critique and not something that should bar a show from production. The pros massively outweigh the cons, and this is a lot better than a lot of shows that both were made for cartoonstitute and shows that got fully produced. Just sad that this amazing idea ends after 7 and a half minutes.

This deserves a show so bas

Bad timing, I guess. Around the time these pilots were released, Cartoon Network realized live action shows can be more inexpensive than animation.

When he leaves the shower, i didnt realize it was girls applauding him. I thought it was *everyone*, i was like ‘what a sick intro, walk out of the shower and the world applauds for you, just that you’re here’

Oh man I been looking for this pilot for years I’m so happy!!!

I can't get over how from 0:08 to 0:56 was *under* a minute meaning the storyboarders made sure the entire opening was timed for the clock throw to work.

Of the 3 dogs I only know who's the voice of one of them Phil Lamarr is the funky guitarist sly. The german one who plays the keyboard is either Rob Paulsen or Jeff Bennett. While the short cupcake loving drummer loubie is either Billy West or Dee Bradley Baker.
