Thank you. I did a cover crop in fall and collected leaves from my neighbor and shredded them for “leaf mulch.” I put that in the garden and added wood chips. It’s only 6” of mulch. To prevent soil disturbance, I used a drill auger for a 3” hole for tomatoes. Very few weeds. It’s my first attempt at your method. So I used “tomato tone” and agricultural gypsum. I’ve shared your videos with others who think tilling is the proper way. I never intended to till again; it looks nice. But, it gets hard and weed infested. My yard In Ohio is clay. I planted tiller radish, winter wheat, clover, and other crop seeds in late summer to break up the soil and add nutrients. I am very positive that deep mulch is only way. Worms are your friends.

I am now a true believer in the deep mulch. Thank you for sharing and please let me know how your garden does the rest of the summer.

I have several different seeds started to replace anything that has succumbed to squash bugs.

With a hand-plow, I broke some soil on my old alfalfa farm that hasn’t been used for a decade. I’m going to cover crop it for a few years with sunflowers, crimson clover, flax, daicon, and I don’t know what else. Someday, God willing, I will use it to grow my calorie crops of potatoes, wheat, oats, and pinto beans. I grow a tiny bit of those now in my no-till mulch garden for practice, but I want to be completely self-sufficient-hence the 1/5 acre plot. Either way, I’m having fun growing. I love physical work after a couple years of inactivity due to autoimmune that I reversed with hyper-nutrition. Anyway, I love your videos. Thanks!

I love it Wayland! Over here in western Washington, zone 8a I am harvesting my garlic, my first round of potatoes will be ready shortly, my blueberries are ripening up, and I’ve got all sorts of veggie seedlings coming up, namely being my green beans. Im trying out royal purples, cranberry beans, and some scarlet runner beans

Thanks for the information. I was wondering if it was too late to still plant some things we did not get to plant earlier this year, and you answered my question.
