    Power filters are designed to run 24/7. And if you use a small power filter (along with your main filter) for the purpose of CO2 diffusion, the small power filter should run as long as the lights are ON (i.e. 8 hrs. - 10 hrs.)

    The third method i.e. power filter worked for me. I already had a small air pipe attached to my filter, so I didn't need to punch any holes. I simply connected my co2 system with the air hose provided. Although this way the bubbles are very slightly bigger, but definitely works. Thanks

    Yeah KM can we not connect the CO2 line to the air line in the power filter ? Like Swapnil has done ? So no drilling is required and does this give the same effect as with one where the hole is drilled and the L connector attached ? Sorry for such noob questions !

  • @maxwellf.7026

    @maxwellf.7026

    7 ай бұрын

    @@rajeevpandalai5248Connecting to the built in air line is not as effective as KM's method, as the bubbles produced will be much larger. Smaller bubbles result in much higher CO2 diffusion.

  • @madebykm

    @madebykm

    4 ай бұрын

    Yes, that's right. When the lights and CO2 are on, you can decrease the airflow of the sponge filter to reduce surface agitation, and at night or when the lights are off, you can increase the airflow again. Thanks.

    Hello sir, thank you for this informative vido. However, I have a doubt regarding the power filter on top of the nozzle we have air inlet option. Can we connect the co2 pipe through that instead of drilling a small hole? (Do you think it will suck in the water from the second bottle will it have that much power?)

  • @madebykm

    @madebykm

    2 жыл бұрын

    I explained the purpose of drilling a hole in the chamber of the power filter in the video. CO2 diffusion will not be so good if you connect the CO2 tubing to the air inlet of the power filter.

    @@madebykm Please do because I am Eagerly waiting for it. Moreover please manage some tricks to arrange some small pieces of highly porous volcano stones for using as a power sand under aqua soil just like ADA power sand. So that we can use it for good bacteria colonisation.

    Please watch my Low Tech Bonsai Aquascape video. There I used clay gravel (LECA) as the first layer for the same purpose. It is also porous and can be used as a power sand alternative.

    I have a question. I have a sponge filter in my 10 gallon tank. Can i use C02 along with sponge filter. I have read about it that it removes the C02 from surface due to surface agitatio. If this is true, can i turn off my sponge filter for whole day while using C02 and then turning sponge filter back on at night? Or, will adding an airstone in sponge filter help?

  • @madebykm

    @madebykm

    Жыл бұрын

    You can run the sponge filter at night and use a small internal filter as a CO2 diffuser when the lights are on. Consequently, both CO2 diffusion and water circulation will occur at the same time.

    The cotton filter should be positioned in such a way that the micro CO2 bubbles can freely rise straight up.

    I advise, if you could try making a diffuser using a ceramic tile cut in circular shape and glued inside a syringe to see if it is any better. Ill try it myself and will let you know.

    I use a powerhead filter that has a built-in fitting for a airline pipe. Actually it is for enabling good aeration in the tank. Can I attach the CO2 pipe to that fitting instead of drilling a hole?

    Dear Kaushik, in last filter option beside co2 diffusing does it work as a filter also? What if attracts small fish in the hole. Can we use also hang on back filter separately.

  • @madebykm

    @madebykm

    Жыл бұрын

    It's actually a small internal filter that I modified a bit to use as a CO2 diffuser, and no fish can enter the filter through that hole because the CO2 tubing will be attached there. You can also use a HOB filter along with it.

    When the filter is turned off, the bubbles will not disperse, but they will still come out of the outlet nozzle of the filter and will rise straight up and exit the tank. Also, there will be no fluctuation in the bubble count.

    Another thing I would like to say is that Cabomba plants need a lot of light and floating plants can block the light and as a result your Cabomba plants may suffer (melt / die).
