Beer cocktails are a pretty niche category of drink; I’m usually in the mood for a beer or a cocktail but rarely both. These recipes changed my mind.

Do the Dirty Flower: Hefeweissen (white wheat beer), gin, grapefruit juice, bitters. The gin and grapefruit really brings out the flowers in the beer.

@@TsiniWeeny no, it is from the Shanghai brewery menu in shanghai, maybe they have more info online, though I doubt it. The key though is not to let the ingredients overshadow the floweriness in the beer. I think it must have been about 1/4 juice to beer, and then we are talking small amounts of the others. I imagine every brand for each ingredient is different, so happy mixing, when you get it right, it is like a field of flowers and the near high-feeling of too much gin and a good time.

Once again... too funny and rather clever with the "Bitter ein Bit"! Having lived and served in Bitburg, FRG back in the early '90's, I can very much appreciate the cleverness and bitterness (a rather acquired taste) Bitburger can have on a lot of people (reminds of the old "Bitter Beer Face" commercials!). Nonetheless, these look like something I need to try! Thanks for the ideas and memories!

I live only a mile from Maui brewing company, and they turned me on to beer cocktails, with a pair of fantastic offerings: Beer Mai Tai: pineapple juice, orgeat syrup, Pineapple Mana (Maui BrewCo's pineapple wheat beer) and then topped with a floater of their coconut porter. The Float: just a scoop of vanilla in their coconut porter... But I usually kick it up a notch, and have them use the imperial coconut, which comes in at almost 10%. It combines to taste like a chocolate milkshake.

So, I should expect to see beer cocktails popping up at every single hipster dive bar in PDX over the next few months or so?

@@evan8654 I'm totally down for it, I'm all about experimental drinks (and foods). I'm usually the guy that tastes other people's experiments, I really love explaining what I've experienced.

Make a cocktail with "Licor43" and coffee. Probably not a fancy liqueur, but I find it delicious and combines really well with one of my favorite drinks , coffee.

Nice to see something a bit more complex than the basic snakebite most people go to for beer cocktails 🙂

I don't like Bloody Marys so I order this beer cocktail called the "Wisconsin Lunch Box". Pilsner + Canadian Whiskey/Amaretto and top with Orange Juice.

I'd love to see you try the B&B from Bones! I'm sure you'd come up with a delicious and more involved version than the one from the show.

Any substitution ideas for the grapefruit juice? I can't eat grapefruits because of medication restrictions.

“Aldbourne” Vat 69, a dash of bitters, and Guinness. Named after the town that the 101st was kept before they jumped into Normandy.
