3 bars of opal color. Which one do I cut?

Welcome to Black Opal Direct,
This opal is a nobby from the Allawah Opal Fields that came to me as a rub with one side showing magical color and the other... a challenge.
How do I get the best gem without losing color?
Is the middle color bar worth the risk?
Let's give it a crack!

Mr Justin, I've been a rock hound since childhood and was never given the opportunity to nor did i ever take the opportunity, to pursue a life in your field, your passion, so to speak. I have a business, small engine repair. Watching you and living vicariously, through your experiences, have rekindled that fire that used to be there. I have kinda serious ADHD, I don't take medication, rarely take aspirin. It's very hard for me to focus on a social media platform, or any subject for any length of time. Maybe a week, and I'll move on to something else. Your videos, your voice, the way that you teach and present yourself, and your knowledge is very impressive. You have gained a fan, a friend for life. One day, I would very much like to come visit. Thank you, from Asheville, NC. And thank you for helping calm my mind, while rekindling something that has been missing for years. Happy cutting!!

I don't even know how the KZread algorithm took me to you, but here I am sitting, watching the 5th video in a row, just staring at the screen in pure awe. It takes a real artist to see and free the beauty hidden in those raw stones.

I personally love the odd shapes, I bought my wife a small pendant years ago and what drew me to it was its irregular triangular shape. For me its often that unique shape that grabs my attention and makes the gem even more unique than just its pattern and colour adding another level to it.

Dang Justin, just dang! Legend mate, unbelievable. I took away a lesson today like every other day, I've never thought of cutting a corner to see a deeper color bar and also have stone 1 now be an oval. I always go tear drop to maximize on stones like that and I either risk it and grind down to the next bar or I stay with what's on top. So believe it or not some of those very simple ideas and things you do can actually seem like a stroke of genius to a newer cabber. Still the mind set of bigger is better, preserve it all in 1 stone. Now I'm starting to realize that large is good but quality of color is possibly even more important than a large stone that is bland. Tha is for all you do in the community mate. After years on my wet flat lap I am finally a single $400 payment away from having my very own 6 wheel cabbing unit with a flat lap on the far left to make setting simple and a buffing wheel on the far right side. So technically 8 spinning things with grit or polish on them.
