It actually used to be the standard, until Apple reversed the trend

I like the IR blaster idea. I remember when it was becoming almost standard to have IR on on cell phones, but the quick improvements to Bluetooth did away with most IR functionality.

Very clever ingenuity and I'm also astounded how versatile the phone headphone jack is. One just assumes it's just for audio but of course it's connected to the motherboard and circuitry so with the right tools and ingenuity it can do pretty much anything! :)

This is probable a stupid question but anyway with the IR diodes you made for tv remote could they be used to make it possible for the phones camera to be able to take pictures or video with in the infrared spectrum

No because the leds are not powerful enough to generate so much infrared light in order to catch enough lite to take a picture.

Since the creator obviously doesn't respond to comments, I will... I believe that is a hall sensor. I asked if maybe he wrote it wrong (though it would detect polarity.)
