in nebraska they have tornado sirens. tested the first saturday of every month from march until september. they are programmed with different alert sounds. long steady sound means severe weather, pulsating with rise and fall is to gather volunteer fire fighters, and rise and fall sound means enemy attack

They were testing the speakers on ALL locations. Not just one speaker. Which is why she constantly keeps repeating it. So that she can get to all multiple speakers online, and emulate a much louder sound for the siren.

The moment the sirens stop, the only thing you will hear again a few seconds after that is BOOOOOOM

In Alabama, we have a tornado siren test every first Wednesday of a new month, and everyone forgets about it. It’s also the same siren as the nuclear siren but without the “this is a test.” So every now and then everyone forgets about the siren and thinks the world is about to end.

When I was a little boy in California, they used to test the air raid sirens and the teachers would teach us “duck and cover” where we’d have to crawl under our desks and wait for the teacher to tell us we can come out. Those air raid sirens used to scare the hell out of me and I’d cry my eyes out. I was in kindergarten and those early grades (1st, 2nd). To this day, the sound of an air raid siren makes my stomach tighten. Even today, they never mean anything good. It’s either a tsunami, a tornado, or you’re getting nuked. This video was a cringe trigger for me. LOL! Thanks for sharing.

They test the tornado sirens where I live in NE Georgia on the first Tuesday of every month. I can hear several that span the county, so the sound comes from all directions in varying tone and pitch. Some of them spin, which adds to the unsettling symphony. The only time they skip a test is if that first Tuesday has rainy weather, as not spook the community.

@@joeywissler7769 If it says "Nuclear siren," that's what it's for, and probably all it's for. I grew up a mile from a nuclear power plant, and not sure how things are in other places, but there were sirens setup that could be heard in every direction for 10 miles around the plant. If there were a problem at the plant, the sirens would be sounded to direct you to turn in to a radio for more information. The sirens were tested regularly, it's pretty damn eerie standing on a hill in the countryside hearing 5+ sirens going off and peaking at different times around you. Edit: I'm not that knowledgeable about sirens but the power plant near me's alert sirens were P-10s or similar.

I'm from Nebraska and the city I live in , we sound ours off every 1st and 15th of the month at 1pm . Where I live we only truly sound them in tornadoes and high winds.

Quite appropriate for a nuclear siren. No up/down notions, no harmonies, just.. AAAAAAaaAAGGGGHHH!!!!!

What was the the names of the other Sirens heard of the video?

You should here the alarm that goes off in oak ridge Tennessee first Wednesday of every month. It’s the nuclear alarm that they test, but it sounds like an air raid alarm. If your not from oak ridge, I’d imagine it’s a shock as they don’t tell you it’s a test at all.

They don't warn before testing them here either. The look on a foreign exchange student's face was priceless when they went off.

I remember living near one as a kid. These things have such a bass to them that they give you that adrenaline feeling in your gut when they go off. Nothing quite like it. I’ve heard sirens in over 13 different states while traveling and nothing sounds as threatening as these.

Growing up in Central Ohio, my elementary school had this exact model of siren RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF OUR RECESS AREA. Every Wednesday I dreaded being outside, since I am Autistic and am quite sensitive to loud noises. I say I say, the siren is bad enough, but listening to these things *speak?* I didn't understand what was going on and ran to the nearest supervisor, hugged her leg like she was my mom and didn't let go for about five minutes.

NE Ohio here, and our town had it across the street from the schools. I can recall many times walking the town when these cane on and were so loud it felt like my eardrums were pulsating. Amazing tech, but man I hate these sirens.
