I was watching it live and so was my mate. He said what do I think he has (this was when dwan was considering a call on the turn) and I said JJ or QQ. I changed my mind on the river to KK because he only seemed scared of a random 8x hand but didn’t play the hand like AA. So I was right then I was wrong haha

@@Tom-hn5hn had him on QQ the entire time, too. First of all his opponent has AK so less likely Tom has AA / KK. Then I don't think that Tom would call any of the bets with just JJ like he did. I think his cards were pretty much known at the table at this point. Which makes no difference as he was never raising or betting himself. Well played pair of QQ and great 3 barrel bluff of Wesley as well.

etiquette would to be sure you don't say anything, joke around or mislead the other player when you aren't in the hand. Sitting directly next to Wesley, Doug intentionally stares into space and made sure to show no interest so there was absolutely zero chance he could accidentally interfere with the hand or giving Dwan any kind of read. Tom Dwan is an animal, and the fact so many people kind of write him off as old school and no longer one of the best cash poker players is so confusing. This guy puts himself in some of the most awkward spots imaginable, and consistently navigates them safely. I can't say he always makes the correct, consistent game theory optimal play (i'm very new to that, so to analyze positions there are smarter people than me), but he makes the right play more than he makes the wrong one, especially in the largest pots.

noone can make consistent GTO play. Let alone in a TV show where you play half of your hands or look like a complete nit. Plus when you are playing for $millions it can get to you really, unless you are a robot. Don't make the mistake thinking these live games are played by GTO robots even if they are some of the best. There is still a lot of psychology in poker.

He could only have 10/10, JJ, QQ, KK, AA. and most people would fold 3 out of these 5 combinations.

The genius of Tom Dwan! I love his heart, fearless nature and poker brain! World-class commentary during the hand! Nike Air Ball finally shut up during a big hand that he's not involved in, and Wesley.. you should have known of the legend of Tom Dwan. Wrong guy to bluff multiple times at these stakes. When Tom verified with Lauren that he said "all- in" and Wesley put his head down, you could see Wesley's soul leaving his body 😆

its hard its because you see it as 800k river bet. when they go into flop 500k on the flop and he left 1.3mil spr less then 3 . you still fold . if you dont think of it as real cash , you think of it as chip , just pure chip for strategy game , you wil know which direction to go for easy call easy fold or easy bluff

You're probably joking but I guess because of all the scandals I can't help but be skeptical and read into these things. I like Dwan I would hate it to be something but this it is a really huge pot. I would want to know did he get that water from someone because it can be certain type, mineral or not or certain taste to signal him whether to call or not. I really don't like getting up and leaving the table at that crucial moment, but if everyone there saw no problem with it, they are probably not worried about anything

The fact that Doug had to check his hand to fold implies that Wesley didn't have AA, and possibly not KK, but let's assume only AA. The gravity of Doug's statement, 'I saw your cards,' rather than a casual warning like 'Be careful, dude,' suggests that Wesley held a strong hand, ruling out something like A8. The all-in move on the river couldn't have been with KK since running into AA is a risk. Therefore, the only plausible hand for Wesley is an AK bluff. I believe Tom had all the necessary information to make the not-so-difficult call; Doug essentially spoiled the hand by speaking.

That's one way to look at it. I think this hand wouldn't have happened if Doug didn't see the cards. Wesley was trying to show off, or prove himself to Doug. Once Doug saw his cards the ego was going all the way.
