To add to the purpose and benefits of a longer battery life in the IPod. This battery life increase could be beneficial not just for those out camping or hiking, but it helps if a person forgets to recharge their Ipod at the end of the day--- say while listening to music while riding public transit and they forget to recharge; It's nice to be able to go several days or maybe a week without worrying about recharging the IPod so frequently. The battery increase is a good thing. 💯

Excellent Video, Thanks! I have an 850 mAh Battery in my IPod Classic 5th Gen and I have stopwatch clocked the battery life around 6 hours with the screen 'staying lit' setting. I was thinking about upgrading to either 3000 mAh or the 3,800 mAh. It appears that the increase in battery life tops out around 3000 mAh due to software limitations. This sounds like a reasonable conclusion. Either way, It looks like the 3000 mAH battery upgrade would be worthwhile over my 850 mAh battery. Thank you for taking the time to test the batteries with a stopwatch! It helps. 💯

A few hours ago, I was pondering which one to get. I decided to go for the 3000mAh option as, in my specific case, it was much cheaper. From the results you've reported, I'm pretty satisfied. Thanks for the valuable information. Keep up the great work!

Alex raises a great point about software limitations. People tend to think "Bigger is better" and it will bring bigger results-- this video dispels that myth. It is like the trend now to put bigger and bigger SD/ Micro SD cards into their IPods thinking more Gigabytes is better. Based on what I've been reading, there is a point where there isn't enough RAM on the circuit board to support a massive GB hard drive. It's all hype. 💰💰

It should have around 20% more runtime, yeah, but your test results show another picture. It might be that the advertised capacity is lower for both of those batteries. I think as long as you get at least 10 hours of continuous play time it's alright. I would not pay more for just 800mAh more.

I’ve got the 3800mAh in my 7th gen that I modded 4 weeks ago - I’ve got over 100 hours out of it so far and it’s still not dead! That’s with iflash quad + 256GB micro sd.

@@ollieheath555 That's great to know! Maybe it is a software issue with the 5/5.5 gen after all!

@@ollieheath555 100 hours of battery life on your 7th gen? 🤨 If you made a video and uploaded that test, with a stopwatch timed test. I'd tune in to watch it. It is nice to actually see the results-- being able to separate the actual proof test results from internet discussion board hyperbole.

I'm pretty sure it's not a software issue. The battery is just boasting a fake capacity. The charger circuitry will stop charging on a certain voltage, not a preset time or charge level.

FYI - the runtime tests you’ll find online and/or claims of battery life in hours per-charge are going to be with the iPod playing music, and the iPod’s backlight turned off (typically for around 90% of the test)

So I’m tying to figure out how to add video to my iPod and I’ve had people tell me that I can add the videos to Apple TV and modify the file then transfer it to the iPod. I’m totally lost there. My other question is what’s the best way to “get” music for my iPod if you catch my drift I know that the bay is mostly viruses now a days so was wondering if you could point me in the right direction.
