ASIDE FROM BEING A BEGINNER BIKE, THIS BIKE IS ALSO AN EXCELLENT BIKE FOR SENIORS WHO CAN'T HANDLE THE BIG BIKES ANYMORE, AND DOWNGRADING TO A REBEL 500 CAN KEEP THEM ON THE ROAD FOR A FEW MORE YEARS. I AM 76 YEARS OLD AND I SOLD MY HARLEY DYNA FXDC 4 MONTHS AGO, AND I AM CONSIDERING BUYING THIS REBEL 500 SO THAT I MAY RIDE UNTIL MY FINAL SUNSET. GOD WILLING! Once you get your ass on a motorcycle there is no turning back, every time I hear thunder! I say to myself some Biker took his bike up to Heaven because you sure don't hear any noise coming from Hell! ride safe and smart, I always left my house with the intention of returning after a long day of riding. DO THE SAME!

Rode harleys since the 60's. It got to where I had trouble getting them off the stand. I bought a rebel 500 2024 this month. I can handle it much better. Keep riding

good video. great information for a young person just beginning to ride. the rebel is my very first bike i have owned (test rides friends) i bought this at 66 yrs old. i am now 68. the bike is light, fun, does 85 without a hiccup. i have risers, floorboards, new radio/speakers, soon to have a windscreen, oh yeah, saddle bags. i don't believe i will be going bigger, unless i win the lottery, my age, the confidence i do have knowing this bike. good for you moving on, your still a young buck. be safe, and enjoy the ride.

Appreciate the comment, it's a good ride and I'm very happy you're enjoying yours. Just wasn't my forever bike, and that's ok! Still, Honda did a good job on this and I'm glad I owned it.

I wonder how many people would feel differently about this bike if it said Harley Davidson on the tank, then people would be talking about nostalgia.

An interesting thought! I bet people would complain it's not an air-cooled V twin. Look at the 975cc Nightsters that replaced the old Evo Sportster and all the hate they generate. If I was shopping a brand new entry level cruiser the Rebel 1100 would be my pick.

I agree with most if what you said except the brand new part, just have to shop around for deals, and what time of year. I bought a 2023 at the beginning of January for $6,449 out the door. First couple place I looke it was closer to $8,000 out the door. Patience and timing

What I'm hearing you say is that this bike is an excellent first bike for just about anyone. Even if they don't know what they're looking for in a bike. It has a little of just about everything, just not a lot of anything special. It'll tell you want you really want in a bike for your second or third bike. This will give you the fundamentals and confidence for getting on the road. As someone else said here, and I'm in the same age group, if i were to choose this as a first bike, it'll be my only bike and I might have a lot of fun with it until I get to the point where I'm a hazard on the road.

I love my rebel 500. I think its fun. It does what i want it to do. I get alot of compliments on it from young and older riders. And for the area im riding it around, i think it performs really well. Like you said, it had that reliable factor that you get with honda.

I disagree with your opinion bud. I own the 500, with some racer cafe bars. It’s a gem gives me a nice exciting ride and I pull that throttle . You never talked about your tank slapper. Lol I’m keeping mine and customizing mine into a sportster. I’ll buy an other bike but keeping the 500.

I am trying to find the perfect bike for me, after some 40 plus years since I sold my '79 Suzuki 185 TS I have regretted selling that bike even had dreams that it was not sold. I don't know if you have sold it yet, but you may regret doing it forreal. Yours is a very nice bike just be darn sure! Good luck in your future endeavors and keep the videos coming. Coming up on 7.000 miles and about 2 years on my Rebel 500. I often have the thought of how I’d enjoy a larger dyna or other HD. Every time, however I always remember how much I love my Rebel and how great, reliable, and fuel efficient my Rebel is. It’s PLENTY powerful for the day to day. I’m not a speed demon, and just enjoy being on 2 wheels on a reliable humble machine. The ONLY reason I would consider upgrading is for a bit more leg room @ 6ft tall, and sometimes having my girlfriend on the back. But overall, I’m 1000% happy with this bike for the long term.

Dont let go of a good first bike you will regret the loss many times over the years of riding ahead. I know I do. Sometimes the ease of maneuvering that comes with the lighter rides cant be found chasing the dragons.

I like mine but it’s geared too low. Gonna put a 16 tooth countershaft sprocket. Will lower rpm 400 @ 60mph to about 4100. Perfect. 1100 turns 3500 at 60

Enjoyed the Honest feedback. The rebel though shouldn’t be compared to performance power handling etc of a ninja or Harley. It’s in its own class and you get a reliable slow and steady cruiser at a fair price. For those that want to ride around town and local commutes it’s a great bike starter or last bike it fits both molds.

I think you are being over critical of the bike. Its a beginner motorcycle. Not exceptional in any department apart from practicality. Great as an introduction bike for the younger rider it gives a chance to learn the basics of motorcycling, before moving on to something more powerful. For the older rider it's more than adequate for all biking scenarios including some minor off-roading. Can cruise at 80mph, excellent fuel economy married to good looks and honda bomb proof reliability. My only criticism of this bike is that it doesn't have a pillion seat as standard. It's an optional extra.

I think of the bike is efficient cheap vehicle. 62pmg to 67 mpg is fantastic. thr repairs will be ultra cheap if it breaks down. etc. it hands down beats ordinary cars when it comes to cost efficiency. if you are not hauling anything major then it would be good vehicle to use instead of your 4 wheeler. it's not the most flashy for stylish bike but still has moderately okay look to it. I'm perfectly okay with that. you still save alot coins using it over 4 wheels. repairing motorcycles is Hella easier than 4 wheels and the mechanics will have shorter lines than the 4 wheel shops so it is fixed sooner.

Amazing video for that Rebel 500 and for beginners. I’m about to get one, but I’m 6.0 - so I’m worried that this one will be too low and I might look weird on it. So… I’m also considering the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650.

It's understandable that you didn't like it, but I feel like many of your points aren't really fair, particularly comparing it to a Ninja makes no sense, they're completely different motorcycles, this is not a track bike, this is mostly a light commuter bike. Hondas tend to be safe, they're really tuned into perfection, my Honda doesn't vibrate like a powered dildo and many of my peers don't like it for that reason. You might like Kawasakis better, they're more risky in that regard.

Sorry, you can't beat a Japanese Classic Honda Rebel 🏍 the spoked wheel version that was made for 30 years 1985-2016 in the metric that matters to me most. Hint: It's not speed, it's not power, it's not looks....

  • @kennv7566

It's a good entry level little bike, not a powerhouse cruiser. It would make a great lightweight bike for short trips around town.Trying to compare it to bigger bikes it's not fair, it's a 500. Some riders will out grow a small bike quickly.

It wasn't about the power. There's a big difference in seating/body position and I only rode small cc dirt bikes. Plus you don't have to worry about cars and stop lights etc in the woods. It all made getting on a street bike very unfamiliar. We all learn and grow as riders in different ways.
