The sheeps predicted it over 20 years ago and have been shouting it ever since!

You know Viper is strong when he will clearly go scorpions as Khmer and go Orjan guns as Portuguese, yet you still can't stop him

Can I question the choice to go 1 range? Was it because he lacked the eco for 2 range skirms? Just wondering why he wouldn't go 2 range then getting a blacksmith at a later date, resulting in more army?

I think he knew he could defend it off with one range skirms. The blacksmith is more important for fletching and armour. Without armour skirms can still be killed by a decent group of archers

@@nathanvanbeek5308 but at the same time. I believe a greater number is better in the short and definitely the long run, no? A reason in his favour would be a just in case. Where if his opponent had good defence he has his 2 fuedal buildings for castle age

1 Archery Range Skirms were enough as I was planning to transition to Scorps and just fighting Archers. 2 ranges would leave me with a worse economy and a later uptime.

Quick question Mr. Biper... is that one range THAT significant? 'Cause I feel this strategy should be as good (or even better) if done with Celts. With them, the scorps will fire 25% faster, siege workshops work 20% faster, not to mention the wood-cutting bonus and the faster moving infantry for a drush/FC. This strategy with Khmer seems more like a gimmick. I am not trying to bash on you by any means... I guess you can also make FC into knights work well with Britons, that's because you are you ;) As a comparison... it seems to me people favour Ethiopians over Britons 'cause of the firing-rate over the range. Anyway... This strategy is fun to watch regardless hehehe.

It is not a gimmick at all. Khmer Scorpions have +1 Range from the civ bonus and the double crossbow upgrade at the castle. So they deal a lot more damage as well.

You got a point. I think it the extra range makes them especially less vulnerable to mangonels, their biggest counter

@@aos32 Did you check Spirit of the Law's Khmer overview (specially on the unique tech)? Spoiler alert: it is not that much. "a lot more damage" is subjective, maybe hard to argue. Also, Double Crossbow did not come into play here and it is an Imp Tech. But if you want to consider that, Celts have Furor Celtica in Imp.

You can see the advantage of the range at 16:11 The enemy mangonel gets ONE shot at killing as many scorpions as it can in one hit, it then has to flee which is almost pointless unless you’re lucky enough to avoid hits until repair. He manages this better at a later time when the mangonel is hiding under the TC. What I’d love to see from the enemy is a ram filled with infantry. Viper always go all in ballsy with only scorpions. Maybe Viper would eventually get the ram with that forward villager or some other pro move by him, but I think that ram could get at least 3-4 scorpions, throw Viper off his game for a short time and if lucky snag an extra scorp with the garrisoned units when the ram dies.

There is no outright "best" but there are some civs that are really strong, like slavs franks mayans etc...
