2nd Gen 4Runner - Panhard and LSPV Brackets

Ғылым және технология

Making several suspension lift parts for the 1990-1995 Toyota 4Runner/Hilux Surf.
These items are often overlooked by owners when they install a suspension lift on their Toyota 4Runner. If they purchase and install a complete lift kit, these parts are likely included and installed.
However, many owners opt for more of a DIY approach, sourcing springs and shock absorbers and thinking they are good to go. Up to around 2" / 50mm of lift, you can usually get by with that. However, if you go above that height, you'll find the panhard bar or rod will start pulling to rear axle towards the right side of the vehicle. Likewise, the LSPV brake proportioning valve will be reducing rear brake pressure. If this is coupled with taller tires, your braking effectiveness will fall. This drop in braking may be attributed only to the taller tires, but much of it is due to the LSPV reducing the rear brake pressure.

Great product, easy bolt-in on my 3" lifted Surf, and cures the rear tail-wag over bumps. Need one for my 100 series now if you could please 😁

Glad to hear that. For the 100 series, there are adjustable panhard bars that would serve the same purpose: amzn.to/3WrpYNa Or it looks like you could make use of a 3rd gen 4Runner style weld-in panhard drop bracket. We have had a few customers adapt our bolt-in bracket to work with the 80-series rear suspension.

@@The4Crawler I'm after a bolt on for the 100 as I'm on a tiny island and not sure who I'd trust with a welder - I may just go and compare the rear with the 100 tho, as if it can be made to fit then it's worth a try!

@@The4CrawlerI've been trying to figure out how much of a lift I have. OME 900x part number. I'm suspecting it's a 2" lift from research but seems taller. No spacer either.

Yes, they work quite well. There are a few companies that sell "one size fits all" parts like this, but we make them in custom sizes to fit any size lift. Making some 5" and 6" drop brackets this weekend.

So I'm working on lifting my 4Runner. I already added two 2 inch lifting rear springs brand new shocks and new bushings in both upper and lower control arms. What LSPV bracket and panhard bracket would accommodate such a lift

Best to measure and see: www.4crawler.com/4x4/ForSale/CoilSpringSpacer.shtml#PanhardDropBrkt You may not need anything on the panhard, 2.5" is the shortest we can make. On the LSPV, disconnect the end of the rod at the axle and see where it sits with the sensing rod near the top of travel at the valve on the frame. Distance between holes is a rough idea of the size of bracket needed. That rod is adjustable in length and can also be bent a little if needed, so you may not need any bracket.

@@loganlewis4726 Easy enough to measure ground up to mounting hole on the axle and ground up to mounting hole on the frame. Difference in those two measurements is the size bracket you need.

Is there is a need for this bracket if I have only 2" suspension lift? What if I wanted add 1" body lift will I need it?

  • @The4Crawler

At 2" lift, may not need to adjust the panhard unless you notice the right rear tire is sticking out of the wheel well farther. If so, measure the heights of the 2 ends of the bar and if there is 2.5" or more difference in those heights, then a panhard bracket will help: www.4crawler.com/4x4/ForSale/CoilSpringSpacer.shtml#PanhardDropBrkt You could also install the LSPV bracket if you notice your rear braking is a bit weak or you've run out of adjustment on the LSPV sensing rod. A body lift will have no affect on either of those items as it only raises the body up off the frame. A suspension lift raises the frame (where the panhard rod and LSPV valve attach) above the axles.
