2nd Floor Carrier: First Run of 2023.

This air conditioner is the one I had fixed in August of last year. Today was the first real warm day of 2023, and with those two things in mind, I figured some of you would like to see it run! I will get a video of the 1st floor unit at some point.
Since I mentioned it in the video, below I'll link the videos last year of where I diagnosed the capacitor problem, and later fixed it!

That’s cool! I’m glad summer is finally coming around the corner! At my dad’s house, we have a nest thermostat so we were able to turn the A/C on and have the heat going if it gets cold again. I think if it gets any hotter than 75 the A/C will turn on and if it gets colder than 67 the heat turns on. And at my mom’s house it’s just set to heat mode. Thank you for these awesome videos!

Yeah it can vary for us depending on humidity. But right ow I got the window fan going, and it's awesome! Thanks a lot for watching!

It sounds happy. It's warm up here in NH also but I'm not starting the A/C yet. After being cold all winter I'm enjoying it being warm. It's also not humid so it's not uncomfortable. I've got all the windows open to get some fresh air in the house.

Yeah running quite well! Honestly I think it's even quieter with the capacitor replacement, even when it was new. I think after today it's gonna be back to the windows again for a little bit, but I still got that window fan!

Glad to see a video from you. Your folks must really appreciate you doing all this maintenance for them! While I can understand having dried out sources to make videos on, you might just need some ideas for new content. For instance, what’s up with that giant traffic light you got a few years back? Are you still working on it? Otherwise, maybe setting aside some time regularly and keeping a journal to brainstorm any ideas that come up would be my suggestion.

Oh yeah they are very appreciative of the work I do. I'm very happy to do it too! It has indeed been a while since I worked on the inline turn signal. It's still in the basement and I still have it! Maybe some time this year I could do stuff with it, but just not sure yet.

I had completely forgotten about the capacitor replacement in the unit. Been a while. Would have definitely have liked to see a startup video of the unit, if it were only running for 5 minutes, it could have been done. But anyway, it's running and running well. That's the main thing. And yes, 2 is 1 and 1 is none. Not a bad idea to keep on hand. But then again, I don't know if it's entirely necessary, because you have 2 now. What I mean is, imagine you only had 1 unit, and it was working fine. You have a spare capacitor in stock. There are your 2, 1 in service, 1 waiting to go into service. It's extraordinarily unlikely for both units to fail at the same time. So I think as long as you have 1 capacitor in stock, you're fine, knowing that once it's used, it's immediately time to order.

Yeah that was a rather fun diagnosis and problem solving! Maybe I'll consider doing a start up some time next month or something. I guess just having one for now is okay, I guess we can see how the summer goes.

And at my mom’s house we still have the A/C covered. We used to have a Swamp cooler but we get Central air a couple years ago. Thanks for the awesome videos!

Sounds great and looks good well-kept. I did find that the insulation on mine wears out from the sun beating down on it. I’ve had to replace it twice already.

Oh yeah I am taking real good care of them, as well as I can. THe insulation has actually lasted longer than I though it would. Maybe this year I'll consider replacing it.

You were pointing out in the video of replacing the run capacitor about letting the air conditioner run for five to ten minutes once turned on because you do not want to short cycle the compressor. According to the research, short cycling could cause excessive stress on the compressor.
