this truck in the video is way to tall for most 5th wheel trailers. In a stock form (chassis wise) yes these trucks have good purpose. I just about bought one in a rollback tow truck configuration. But with only a regular truck box 5.5 feet in the air this one has no purpose.

It's a medium size 3-5 ton truck, perfect for heavy hauling long distances. This is not a truck for city boys.

Here's what you do if you buy an F650 or F750. Don't put a pickup bed on it....put a ranch style hauler bed on it, or a flatbed with side mounted tool compartments. Then once you've got an actual versatile bed put on it, have a fifth wheel hitch installed and buy yourself a 20,000 lbs+ triple axle tow hauler to pull behind that big bitch. And typically these 650+ trucks are designed for hotshot, commercial and construction purposes. Like dump trucks, pulling around heavy equipment and plow trucks, hence why the suspension is so insanely beefy and beats the shit out of whoever is driving it on the slightest of bumps. It's geared lower with insanely bottom end torque for the specific reason for towing a big ass trailer all the time. If you wanted something that rode like a Cadillac.....then why didn't you buy a Cadillac and just lift it like 14' and throw 50" tires on it and then you could have the best of both worlds and just have a fugly looking vehicle......that drives & handles nicely?

this truck was originally made for work use (flatbeds, box trucks, dump trucks, oil tankers, etc. The pick-up version of it was a later make that only lasted like 2 years due to poor sales, he's making the truck sound so bad because he's viewing it as if it was only built to be a personal use vehicle for daily driving

I personally think it's awesome I tow trailers perfectly fine and wish the ones I drive were manuals. Plus that height is fricken awesome

I agree that it is stupid and impractical, but it is one of those unique vehicles that some people desire. You could say that a $500,000 Lambo is stupid too, it only has two seats and all you can really do with it is drive fast and turn heads. It has zero practicality, but people buy it to show off and to speed. As with this truck it is impractical but some people just like driving big trucks, and they don't get much bigger than this. You could however get more use out of this than an expensive super car.

Isn't this designed for towing? If you're not towing, you'd probably pull away in 2nd, then straight to 4th, then 5th and 6th. As an ex-truck driver, I drove units with up to 18 gears. You don't use all of them, even when loaded - you just pick the gear depending on the weight of the trailer and the incline (and type of road).

Been looking at mobile home conversions from box trucks to shuttle buses. I can see this being chopped up for a home with the ability to tow a car. This looks like it would work extremely well

That's a dump truck cab chassis with a fabbed bed on it. That's what a f650 is for. You can skip most gears in that transmission with no heavy load by the way. In this setup, it is impractical to everyone but a select few(mainly a good truck to get wrapped for a neck breaking rolling advertisement). With a real load on a trailer properly set up it would do much better it rides like crap because it's made to have 10,000 pounds of gravel in a steel bed sitting on the back end. That funny looking hook above the regular hitch is actually called a pintle hitch. They're used in heavy equipment and construction because they're stronger than a regular ball. It's actually a useful truck if you need to haul heavy equipment. Same truck you see as a dump truck, but this one has a custom pickup truck bed.

It's got the commercial frame and drive train, but a normal truck bed. Whoever made it didn't design it to be an actual commercial truck. It can't even tow very well, despite the commercial frame/drive train. That's why it's stupid. A normal semi truck would be better as a daily than this.

Yea, this guy is a idiot. they come factory with a gooseneck or fith wheel, you have to special order a pick up bed. also, its geared properly for what the truck is designed to haul. it rides like shit because its a serious truck, and your trailer sways because you have to pick the right drop for the trailer you're towing at the time. Dudes a jackass.

The only time I ever saw one of these in-person it was being used to drop blasting mats on a construction site. It actually made sense because a crane loaded the mats on and two guys would roll them off the back onto the blasting location. The wheelbase was short enough to make the tight turns necessary, it was tall enough to climb over most obstacles, and it could handle tons of rubber mats. But that's probably the only place this truck wouldn't be stupid.

Just an observation, but when most people need to get in the bed of the truck, they shut the tailgate and use the bumper, and if so equipped, the trailer hitch as a step. But, that only applies to normal people, not dramatic sensationalists, such as the guy in this video.

I drive a normal 1 ton dually dodge 2006 manual and it’s the same 1st gear is only when you’re hauling something heavy. I start out in 2nd gear which gets you to about 13-15 mph, 3rd to 25 mph and 4th to about 35 mph and then 5th to 45 then 6th anything over 50mph. So the gears aren’t made that way specifically for that huge truck, that’s how it comes from manufacturer, at least with my truck

He thinks it's the second dumbest truck ever made, yet he buys it. He wears a black jacket on a day he himself says is hot out. I'm questioning this man's decision making abilities all together and think he needs a 7 year old to help him make proper choices in life from now on.

Only very recently has ford begun offering the 450 with a box. For many many years the 350 was the largest you could get factory with a box.

It certainly has a use but as a daily driver commute vehicle...No. These trucks fill the gap between what pickups can tow and what semis can tow. There are lots of truckers who don't need 18 wheels to get the medium size jobs done but need more than the 1 ton pickup can offer.

I agree.this is the dumbest truck ever, look at me grin the entire time. oh and the hitch sucks. so bad that it has a complicating pin that I don't know how to pull out and get a lower drop hitch for it. so dump. wish I was 34 to get that sticker from the back. damn

Today, Mr. Spaghetti shows us his new, extra large meatball. The gear ratios are so that you have to spend a lot of sauce to get up to noodling speed. When you have a meatball trailer with a Lamborghini meatball inside, the large meatball is not fun to drive.

I don't understand why you would buy a truck you think is so stupid. That seems stupider than the truck.

I came here because I just saw one of these as work. But the one I saw had a full crew cab, a Reading work body with ample tool storage, and a gap between the body and the cab they were using to hold a high amperage welder/diesel generator combo. It was a massive welder and the vehicle was fleet. The whole thing was at least 23 feet long. I would think this is a good use for the F650 but I would never think to buy one with just a bed.

As someone who is 6'7 and nearly 300lbs... I can't tell you how cool it would be to drive something that feels big. Not something that I fit in, or feels normal, but something that I am like "holy crap this makes me feel small"

Big trucks are a health hazard for everyone, please reconsider.

This is for towing heavy... not a car trailer or boat (unless its a huge boat.) 1st gear is when youre loaded

What the devil is anyone towing which requires this? I'm not a truck person but I can guess any Super Duty (f250) can do what this can and it's not as complicated. Heck, a 150 can get a haul job done all the while dragging yer boat/trailer to the beach house for the weekend. This and the 650 are very overkill and as I'd imagine, reserved for hauling those concrete pipe segments for underground plumbing. O_o A family of rhinos perhaps?

It's really for commercial use, anyone who uses this for a personal/everyday use is just being a douche. They do have a purpose, but it's not towing a car lol.

Getinit 56 you're* I admitted early that I've no idea about trucks. Just about every one of my coworkers has one kind of pickup and all get jobs done, and not needing anything overkill like this. But please, continue to insult.
