2hp Euclid (euclidean rhythm generator)

Музыка

Here's Euclid the Euclidean rhythm generator from 2hp. It takes a clock or trigger and generators Euclidean rhythms of varying lengths, with varying active steps and offset to shift the pattern around a musical bar/phrase. There's CV over length and steps and a reset to get everything back to step 1 and in sync with your other sources. A fun little unit and a useful one for rhythmic control.

    I have been using Euclid to drive the 2hp Arp and switching the Erica Trigger to gate in and out of the trigger stream. This can create a very syncopated beat, and it can do it all by itself. hint: use a sloth or another slow random (Erica RND) for CVs into the root of the ARP and into the Euclid's length and steps input.

    Nice tips, patches like that always work out well for shifting patterns.

    I am really new but is it possible to explain this in detail to me? Sounds like what I want to do but not sure how it all patched together.

    Really nice patch. I was looking at this module to add some complexity to my drum rhythms but I never thought about using it with a synth line. Are you using that red passive mult to split the output?

  • @DivKid

    @DivKid

    that hosa splitter is used to split the input clock from the DATA output to both the Euclid input and off to a sequencer for the other patterns that play along with the euclid.

    Been using a similar technique to trigger chords from my polysix. Sending the chords via a sequencer from the polysix into the LPG in my eurorack then triggering the gate via euclidean rhythms, loadsa fun!!!

    Beside the size, the thing that seems to set this product apart is the CV control. The delightful Euclidean Circles modules have none. Rebel Tech offers a couple Euclidean modules with CV control similar to this, but in a bigger package. Oddly, nobody seems to offer CV control over offset, although you can slip the sequence through clever use of reset.

    I believe Pam's New Workout offers CV over ERot (their term for offset) in Euclidean mode but it's a couple menus deep

    yeah I didn't explore reset here, or lots of other applications actually but the series is just my way of sharing the little 2hp units that offer a lot for size/price. You're right about CV over it, I didn't think about that but so few actually have it. But dividers/switches/inverters are all good for messing with feedback and resets for this sort of thing too.

    The way you bring in and out the steps at the end shows the power of CV for a euclidean sequencer: you can make a nice verse/chorus delineation by increasing the steps for the chorus and dropping them down again for the verse (presumably to make room for another voice). Also, love the Sad Euclid. Was he staring at his sandwich?

    nice review! I just didn’t get how you punched 2 different drum sounds with just 1 output from the Euclid.

    Sad Euclid was just a quick google Pieter :) Good idea about verse/chorus like structures with busier or simpler patterns.

    Im buyinh Euclid Rhytm Generator by Robotic Bean for my Reason rack ! it does the same thing Im super interested to make some dope rhytms and tunes and experiment by CV ! you should do more Reason and its Rack Extensions man they have similarities with modular world since its a modular daw . I loved yout Complex-1 Tutorials .

    Does this thing need a straight clock or can you also feed it with a jittery clock from Marbles? Marbles is my main clock source and I am using jittery ones a lot, so I was wondering if this will work out or not. Thanks for helping :)

    good video as always.. but i have a questions... i use STO MN for OSC, and output from the euclid input to VCA Intellijel.. the problem is... why i only hear the gate ? not the note rytmic from the STO.. My routing is... STO to VCA in. and Euclid into CV input VCA Intellijel.. THANKS BEFORE !!!!
