I'm a Gm Toyota guy. My father left me his 14 5.0 manual with 24k miles. I fell in love with this car. I'll never sell it and I'm going to build a boosted beast out of it for the street.
Imagine having an 100K plus billet big block and losing to a Ford stock production small displacement block. Gotta sting.

There was ppl making similar power with the 4.6 teksid block from the 90s using their stock crank which is also forged back before the coyote even came out. It isn't really doing anything the 4v hadn't already done the coyote is just newer with more tech and more optimally set up from the factory obviously but built vs built the old teksid 4v can hold its own with any of them. They been deep into the 5s stock crank, stock teksid block and factory style ported heads. Same type deal but with less tech and it was done back before 2010.

@midnight347 are you talking about the 4.6L ford V8 Modular? I know that thing was a beast for it's time as well. The Koenigsegg CCR, built it 2005, (when V8s on average made between 250-350HP) they took the Ford 4.6L mod and stuck a big supercharger on it. Made like 800 peak horsepower. For the time, that was crazy. This car went on to break the world record for "Worlds fastest production car."

A lot of people are comparing this car to Mullet, but there’s a lot that people don’t realize with that comparison: Mullet wasn’t originally designed for what it’s doing now. The chassis was built for a jet engine, and so a lot of optimized suspension and chassis setup wasn’t there until a few months ago. The El Camino platform is not as efficient as the Mustang platform. Take Mullet’s current powertrain and put it into something more efficient like a Fox Mustang or a Catfish Camaro and you would see drastically different numbers. Brett is a dedicated racer. All of his content is this Mustang. He doesn’t have a track to run. He doesn’t hold events, he doesn’t have multiple cars. He has talked about the massive amount of testing he has done with this car after every little change. He has more passes in Snot Rocket in the last two years than Cleetus has in Mullet entirely. When is the last time you saw and of Cleetus’ cars on a hub dyno? Brett has every nut and bolt in this car down to a science, and honestly Mullet isn’t like that. None of Cleetus’ cars are. If Cleetus spent 6 straight months doing nothing but perfecting Mullet, then maybe he could get mullet down to a 6.1X second pass, but that’s not what Cleetus is about, and that’s ok. Comparing Snot Rocket to Mullet on the surface is just dumb, there’s so much behind the scene stuff that goes into play that it doesn’t make sense to compare them.
@ChuckThree

Time = Money Brett has invested, what most people would consider, an exorbitant amount of time into his 6 second car. Garrett has invested, what many people are considering, an exorbitant amount of money into his 6 second car. Cost and expense are relative to the means in which you measure it. Ultimately both dudes haves used their particular talents to fund reaching a similar goal.

Yea, it's really not fair to expect a Steve Morris built all billet 572 cu in, 5000 hp SMX, tuned by Pete Harrell to keep up with a 300 cu in, 2900 hp, with factory heads, block and crank Coyote engine. It really is an absurd comparison.
@raipanda133
3 ай бұрын
@@Patrick-is4ym Is Cleetus finding the limits of his combination? Is he finding the perfect suspension tune to put the power down? Has he has Mullet on a hub dunk to let Pete perfect the tune? Take away the fact that the mustang is objectively a better chassis, and you still have one guy making efficient power and another guy making raw power. Comparing the two on paper only tells half the story. That’s why it’s an absurd comparison.

When this came up in my feed, I knew by the title that it was SnotRocket's Engine, but I didn't know it was your channel. It sure seems like you have all aspects in your racing program pretty much dialed! That's quite evident by the close relationship you have with your engine builder. When you're pushing the limits like you are, both the racer and engine builder must heavily depend on each other on open communications with each other and agreed operating parameters! Brett looked mad uncomfortable when they checked the torq on the head bolts.
Ben Alameda Racing (well known Ford racer) says to tap the top of the studs or bolts with a punch after torqueing and retorque again. He says it sets the fastener into position so they dont lose torque. He says he's learned that from experience. Time tested reliability.
fooking awesome!

Love that main cap puller. Looks like it works the same way as my beer capper. Lol
Even with over fifty years of experience, I am about the latest and the greatest, one thing I was taught long ago, in my machine shop years, was to add Marvins Mystery Oil to the fuel tank, at EVERY fill-up, to lubricate the engine parts ABOVE the oil rings and it will also help prevent the rust in the cylinder bores.
awesome
