Man I am blown away by this interview. Had no idea all his actual hockey experience as a player plus all the things he did pre NHL. Unreal. Much respect to him.
Hey this is by far the best hockey podcast out here.. knuckles has some interviewing skills.. mad respect to knuckles.. a true man of principle.. God bless boys!!
Hopefully Chris and Tim are aware of the praise that us listeners of their podcast have for them. This is a tremendous show. Chris does a fantastic job of leading the interviews as Tim does as a co-host getting to know the personal side of these guests, going back to their beginnings but yet not being hesitant to give their opinions of them negative or otherwise. Another thought. I love the pairing of these two guys because you have the long time successful veteran of the NHL (Chris) and a young man that didn’t quite have the success, bounced around, different countries, fought hard for a chance. That is a great thing to have those two guys chatting with guests from two very different levels of success. Gives great perspective.
I love Iron Mike. Demands a 100% effort. I really enjoyed his time as coach of the Rochester Americans. Awesome team and Calder Cup champions. That team led the league in scoring and had five guys with over 200 penalty minutes. Very entertaining to watch.
Another beauty of an interview! Man, I learned a lot about Iron Mike in an hour. Good job!
Keenan and Stapes - same podcast. You know you gotta hear this. "That is why this team traded you" "They didn't trade me they fired me"
I worked at a pizza restaurant in high school in the Chicago area and the owner of the place was good friends with Al Secord. Al would stop in every other week or so and told me an awesome story of Keenan when they were both with the Hawks. In between periods, Keenan came into the locker room ranting and raving, chewing out players left and right. He spotted a five gallon bucket that was sitting on the floor and to exemplify his point, wound up and kicked the bucket. The bucket didn’t move and Keenan’s face turned bright red. His rant immediately stopped and he turned around and hobbled out of the room. The players howled with laughter. The bucket was filled with ice, which was obscured from Keenan by the lid. Keenan ended up breaking a toe.
Chris you are becoming a really good podcast host and a wonderful ambassador for the Habs. Do keep it up! I actually met Martin St-Louis, Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton at a pub the night they beat Philly in MTL, right after Kent was on your show. I told Kent he was awesome on your show and begged that he do it again. He said he enjoyed it. Get that beauty on again! I would absolutely love it if you had him on 2-3 times per season. And maybe Jeff Gorton too!
The players who had the problems were the borderline players - Mike Keenan ❤️

I always liked Mike. As time goes by, we age... He looks different, same voice tho 😂
Stand for something or fall for anything. This guy stands for something and has a career to prove it. Great Pod all the way around guys!
Holy cow this was fun! Great job boys, terrific and fun episode as always.
Awesome. I was 10 in Chicago when the hawks played the penguins I knew when they let him go roenick and that team was gone
He was my fraternity brother at St. Lawrence University (I graduated much later tho..). We had Mikes Geology exam in our test file!
Wow! Speechless! What an amazing interview, I got to know coach Iron Mike roots! Effing fantastic, thank you for this one!
Would love to see Keenan back talking Canada Cup stories, the 94 run, and when Grimson went crazy.
Great interview! Not sure how I missed this one a year ago! After hearing Tim and others name drop Mike Keenan, it was great to see the man behind the stories and hear his perspective! Great job Chris and Tim!
What a great interview. Keep it up guys!
Keenan is such a great interview. His Belfour story was awesome. I was always curious what was said. His style of coaching is dated now but it was sure entertaining. He ruined my Canucks too, but he got us Todd Bertuzzi which ended up as Luongo down the road. Hard to get mad at that.
Just a Great Hour Guys. Mike, Great to see you doing so well. The Best.
Knuckles podcast very good listen. Takes u into the life of these players and gives plenty of info.
Great show and thanks for the great guests .
Another excellent podcast. Well done!
Finally i get to hear Mike Keanen thanks you guys appreciate every interview
Once again great 👍 show 👍 👏 👌 Keenan to me is one of the great s 👌 👍 😀 👏. I don't think today's players can handle these type coaches because their to babified . I think that's what's wrong with today's players ,no accountability.
Great stuff, thanks guys.
I loved Mike Keenan when he coached the Rochester Americans we were unbeatable.

#1 the best
Best sports podcast by far.
if leafs cant get their act together they should consider bringing in iron mike just for this year they are a win now team
I spoke with Mike for about 5m after the Flyers Elim the Habs in 87 - very nice guy. Bowman was the same - predictably unpredictable but got the best out of his teams obviously
played University hky for Keenan's assistant Mike Pelino; great practices and hockey mind ...learned alot in a short period of time . Feel blessed to know the game on another level...thanks to these types of coaches !

Don't know but guessing this is from Kennan's house be used to have in Key West. We live here. Keenan was always a great neighbor!
I read "Losing the Edge: the rise and fall of the NY Rangers" and the author portrayed Keenan as a mind-playing maniac. I tend to believe it.
Mike Keenan gets it. The Leafs could use his style of coaching then there would be no off nights and floaters.
I total prick. Gotta love the guy.
Keenan always had tough squads. Talented squads. He had to be enemy number uno when Bettman took control. His teams gave every opponent a tough night.
For a coach always mentioned as one of the top 5 most hated coaches ever, he sure seems like a nice guy. Funny how that happens.
Peter Zezel played for Keenan
Pelle Lindbergh was a great goalie to bad his life was cut short he had a vezina under his belt and he was only 26 when he passed
Mike seemed to have the "make them all hate me to unify them approach". It may have chapped some, but it was successful.
will you plese go to vancouver

Barry Beck gave Nilan a good beating.
*_How come you didn't call Mike a psycho to his face Tim. Little man!_*
Chris..ask Mike if he regrets beating Doug Crossman up so much..Crossman was a good player
I thought he was suspended for ever..
No record of mike Keenan drafted by the WHA ever... And Roanoke was part of the southern league back then
Keenan ... Why did you trade, Mike Gartner, at the trade deadline the year you and the Rangers won the Cup? Gartner was averaging 2.3 goals every 3 games during the season and at the time you traded him. Keenan (along with encouragement from Messier) let the Rangers top scorer go in a trade for Glen Anderson, who was averaging 1 goal every 8 games on the team he was with. Gartner deserved a Stanley Cup for his stellar career and due to his production with the Rangers that Cup year. It was a good ole' boys move by Keenan and Messier to bring on Messier's old Edmonton buddy, Glen Anderson, to replace Gartner so Anderson could win another Cup. I wish the Rangers front office would have let you go, Keenan, in March, knowing that you were going to win the Cup ... Would you have felt cheated if that happened to you, Keenan?
Today they hide behind the face shields and the league is so inconsistent with punishment.
Guys like Glenn Healy and Tom Laidlaw don't have much good to say!
It’s too bad the fans never got to see this side of Keenan when he was coaching teams. He always came across as a standoffish prick.
Mike Keenan lost a lot of respect for his classless handling of Trevor Linden in Vancouver. Linden is the real deal as a hockey player and human being, someone who gave 100 percent every shift and a respected captain in the locker room. Keenan seems to have matured and good for him, but he was a crazy brat for much of his career.
Did you ask him why he scratched Dale Hawerchuk for no reason when his dying grandmother came to watch him play one last time?
I liked Mike Keenan when he coached the Flyers. Not much after that
He was abusive and a bully, and probably still is. Arguably worse than Mike Babcock. That people are condoning his coaching style just because he had a great record is disgusting! Today's NHL would not tolerate his bullying tactics, and the players would have told Biznasty about it to completely shutdown and cancel his ass, just like they did to Mike Babcock.
Mike Keenan now coaching the Italian National hockey team He will do a good job
Try outs in Oshawa.....doing drills: Mike Keenan: You ever played organized hockey before kid Me: Yeah why? Keenan: You're lost out there kid. You don't know what the fuck you're doing. Me: oh.
AWESOME FUCKING EPISODE!
THIS IS A COACH I HAVE 0 RESPECT FOR HE WAS ALWAYS A BULLY AS FAR AS IM CONCERED
