Great to see you back! Love your videos. Would love to see you guys do a video on Barnes TTSX .284 150 grain (I shoot that in my 7mm rem mag).

About time we see you back
Glad ur busy w work
So great to have you back! According to Barnes, the 168 grain, 308 Winchester, factory Vor-TX ammunition is actually loaded with an LRX bullet. Since these bullets were engineered for low velocity impacts, would you consider doing an LRX test in a short barreled 308, so we can see how they perform at 1500-1800 fps? Sincere thanks!

TTSX vs. LRX is a bit of a gray area. They’re just labels. The expansion characteristics are in the nose design, not the metal and LRX vs TTSX is based on aggressiveness of ojive more or less. The 168 TTSX is the lowest expanding 30 cal I’m aware if from them at a rated 1500 fps. It’s the best bullet in that caliber from 30-06 and lighter.

@@Snailz5 Interesting. The Barnes tech that I spoke to told me specifically, that the copper composition in the 168 grain, 30 cal bullet was different than the other 30 bullets, not just the ogive. In fact he said all of the LRX bullets used a different copper composition than the TTSX. Cheers

@@EdAb Oh, good to know. I was not told that information when I spoke to them, but I didn't ask that specific question.

@@Snailz5 That said... I have received conflicting info from techs before. It is conceivable that the "balistician" I spoke to was incorrect. 🤷♂

@@EdAb I mean either way, that 168 TTSX looks to be a sweet 30 cal bullet. Performance above 2400 fps should be like a hammer or other fragmenting mono and below should be like a more traditional barnes. With a trustworthy bc you can work with (unlike Hammers, who inflate their number wildliy).
I like it. Good vid
I will be using the 127 lrx creed this coming deer season we will see how they do

what cartridge? I have tons of that bullet in factory Barnes ammo for 6.5PRC that shoots well in several Tikkas I have. But I handloaded that bullet in my 6.5-284 Norma with a Bartlein barrel using H1000. Performed flawlessly on deer last 2 seasons at distances from 9 yards to 399

@@derekmcmurry Barnes vortx lrx factory, we’ll see how it does on whitetail deer
Nice. I just loaded some for the first time and they were accurate. Shot at 500 yds in 7prc on a video today on my channel
For my reloading needs, at Midway USA, Midway sells second-grade bullets that appear to be Sierra 175 grains bullets, and for five hundred bullets, my cost is $129.00.
Bet it'd be a slick option in 7mm08 handloads
Any plans for 165gr sst 308win? My handloads getting 2775 with blc2 20"barrel, like to see how well they hold together. Very accurate in my mod70. Welcome back brothers!
Please try 160 grs Speer grand slam in 28 nos
What is the deal with primers? Can't get large rifle or magnum large rifle. Seams to be plenty of the small primers available.
I have had very good luck with Barnes. But from 150 yards to the muzzle is my experience
Glad to see you guys shooting again! BTW, how's JLO?

Please tell us about your Savage 28 Nosler. What stock is that? How accurate is your rifle? I asked because I have one unfired in my safe, and I can't decide on keeping it and getting a new stock or selling? I like certain things about it, but dislike others - specifically the junky mag box! Thanks.

We've got a video filmed on the rifle, it covers all the mods to the gun along with accuracy testing - soon as the editing is done it'll be out, probably in the next week or two. Thanks for watching!
I can't stand barnes to much bad luck. The look like solids . Glad to have you back. Great video

I just picked up a Savage UL in 280 AI and it shoots lights-out with my reloads, but I hate the stock--what stock are you running on yours?

Stocky's VG2, we'll have a video coming out on the rifle in the next few weeks, 280 AI's a great cartridge!
You mention that the alloy for the LRX is softer. Apparently for 308 the 168 TTSX has the same expansion velocities as the 175 LRX (at least according to people who have asked Barnes in an email). Have you run any tests that might confirm this?

Yeah I have been pondering that element as well. I think I prefer the consistency of ones that don’t, but terminal performance on big game of broken off petals is probably better.
24" isnt enough barrel for that cartidge.
Not exactly what I would like. But it isn't Terrible if it is accurate.
