Thanks for your videos. You are very positive and encouraging! I'm 9 months off klonopin and 6 months off lexapro and trazadone. I still have a lot of painful symptoms but it is getting better. The fatigue, peripheral neuropothy, joint pain and intense depression makes this very challenging. I'm glad to see you accomplishing so much! Keep it up! You give us all hope! I have not worked in 15 months. I pray all your w/d symptoms go away and that you heal 100% in Jesus' Name. I pray we all do! God bless you!

I'm on 18 months cold turkey. my memory is starting to come back but my driving anxiety is still really bad. I can't drive freeways which is causing bad depression. However, 10 months ago i could barely walk around the block or sit at a red light without freaking out so I'm definitely getting better. I just pray that i can eventually get back on the freeway and drive wherever I want.

I definitely feel so slow in the head too. I've noticed it seems like when I try to initiate something, my old "programming" to run can't be found, resulting in a crash. I actually get lightheaded trying to make simple decisions hundreds of times per day still. I literally catch myself holding my breath and have to manually breathe. It's so frustrating. I'd love to blow off some steam in a rant, but instead I'll simply say it's been the most frustrating 15 months of my life. It's getting better, just so slowly! I seriously miss my ability to focus for more than a matter of seconds on any one thing. My vision seems to be getting worse too. But honestly it's better than them always feeling like they are being squeezed. Silvers linings surround me nowadays. "At least it's not as bad as it was..."

You give so many people hope! I'll be 9 months benzo free on the 17th of May. Still get DP & allot of muscle & nerve issues but my mind is so clear...minimal brain fog. Yes, any muscle can get stiff at anytime. I'm a germaphobe but after tapering for 15 months, surviving Influenza A in Feb & am getting the TIF surgery for a hiatal hernia which was dulled by Lorazepam...I see lines of fuzzy black & white after I read for a few mins. It lasts for a few seconds & fades. Then I read, look away from the page & see lines of almost letters but it's fuzzy. Neon colors don't glow as much. I too get stiffness or nerve pain in 1 or both sides. It fades too. Can occur anytime. Stay strong! I recently made my wd vids public again but won't watch them. I just can't but hope they help others.

I'm 59 so I hope its worth trying to get off now, I have failed a bunch of times got down to 0.5 from 1.o easy enough ,I was on 3 mg per day back 15 yrs ago, You sound a lot like me with the pain issues. Just to hear you speaking normally and calmly gives me cope. Two years is more doable than 10! However, I am on far more meds and have been on benzos since 1980. I'm 62 and "stable." You sound and look great. I can follow your speech, which is often hard with benzo sufferers (I'm the worst!!!!) Your cognitive issues sound familiar. You go, girl. Yes, the vision. It's the brain. I feel like I'm looking through Coke bottles when I'm in interdose withdrawal. I've had the skipping. It's NOT your eyes, but if you're worried, getvit checked. If you wear contacts, it makes it worse. Keep on with the great fight!

I hope to be healed and contribute to the social work field and know that you will be valued so much as well. My main symptoms are feeling that I am completely empty inside. I feel as though my brain has shut off and have no connection to my sense of self or feelings and just have my memories. I am wondering if you experienced this as well? I completely understand. Im five months in cold turkey xanax 2.5 mg/day. I was at a movie today...i have hardly been able to leave the house in months so this was huge for me. I've have such terrible symptoms of depersonalization when I leave the house. Noise, motion, and sound can be very overwhelming. Then we had a tornado halfway though "a quiet place" and had to sit in the hallways. I thought it wasn't reality and I was going mad. I had to self talk through it. I understand the cotton ball feeling and not being able to form a sentence or mixing up words. In supposed to be going back to work in a month from being gone almost 5 months and im terrified.

alley katt Hi I'm not going through total withdrawal right now but 3 weeks ago a substitute doctor wouldn't fill my prescription. I have been on 4-9mgs of xanax for over 20yrs! Now I'm on 1mg of Klonopin. My daughter found out how bad it was gonna get and after seeing me for 72hrs she freaked and got my doctor to see me... I think you're all so amazing but idk if I have what is needed to willingly go through with this? I'm asking would i be in trouble staying on a small dose for life? Are some forced too? Sorry i get super triggered seeing what I'm supposed to live with. Idk y doctors give it out. I didn't know any of this was a symptom and it's a lot! Can't believe the pharma companies don't warn ya! Anyway u seem to be doing good and most i here are coming off something i thought wasn't as strong as xanax. Is that right? Sorry just trying to get informed! Take Care & God Bless

All the benzodiazepines are strong. All of them can cause damage. they are not meant to be used long-term. You may be someone who doesn't have a hard withdrawal. Almost all people will EVENTUALLY be harmed. For you, that could be tomorrow or 10 years from now. We don't know when. There is never a good time to come off benzos. But, speaking for myself, I feel so much better being off as compared to being on them in tolerance.

Hey there my name is Rayna and I've watched your videos but I haven't had honestly the guts to comment because this is been so hard for me. My doctor took me off my klonopin after three and a half years..she said because she feels like there was alternative treatment, counseling and that she didn't feel comfortable continuing to prescribe the type of medicine even though she was the one that increase my dose to 1mg and had been prescribing it for well over a year before the other doctor was who only works with children now I tried to talk to her I bawled my damn eyes out but she refused to listen to any of it which is common with her because she refuses just to listen in general. She is young and thinks she is helping the World by working at a facility that takes sliding scale or people that have no income or insurance and I really don't know that she's ever worked with the mental health population before this. It's like a doctor or a teacher going to school to be in that profession but never working with a patient or an actual student. That may not be the case but that's what it seems like and it upsets me greatly. Anyway, she just decided to rapidly taper me over a two to three week. August through September and I just went crazy... I lost it I know that sounds crazy but I did. I tapered mostly appropriately with the exception of maybe two or three times where I saved a half just in case I had a bad day but then my anxiety started to get worse and worse to the point where I end up in the hospital one night... I just froze. I also cannot lose weight I literally have hardly eaten and I still weigh 130 which is fine but it's not my norm and it still shouldn't be 130 considering I haven't eaten but my body is just in survival mode I think and saving whatever it can I don't know and when you talk about the pain you're experiencing obviously in the first week of withdrawal my legs every single thing on my body hurt and now I had a chronic back condition which is pretty severe being young and appearing healthy doesn't help that because one people usually don't believe me until they see my paperwork or two they think oh you're fine the medicine will wear off and oh you're fine I'm just so sick of hearing oh you're fine you'll be fine. I don't think anybody realizes how serious this is and that people actually die from it. I am on Lamictal which I am not sure if you're familiar with but it is an anti-seizure Med but also really well treated for people with bipolar or borderline personality which has helped me greatly and it's a godsend during a time like this. She wanted to put me on Seroquel to replace the Klonopin but I've already been on Seroquel years ago and it makes me a zombie so I still haven't decided whether or not I'm going to do that yet I'm literally living minute-to-minute. Right now I'm trying to find either part time work or something that I can just do from home because thank God I still live with my parents at 35 which is embarrassing but it's what I have to do right now. Sorry this is all over the place I don't expect you to read it but if you do thank you so much. I lost my job... and for the past two weeks I have just been at home. My moods are erratic, I shake, I cry, my BP at the psychiatrist today was 224 over something because I was having a panic attack but luckily the nurse was new and nice and held my hand and told me to breathe and it came down because they probably would have called ambulance. I tried talking to her apparently she works from home on Mondays so she was over the Telecom thing and she just kept talking over me and I told her that's my problem you talk over me you won't listen I've been on your caseload which there are only two doctors there and she's a PA so she's not even a psychiatrist I told her that she had my file she could have read it and she's never asked about my triggers, how things are at home, if I'm doing anything for my stress nothing that counselor does necessarily but just questions, general questions so that she can treat me in a psychiatric manner. But instead let's jerk you off your benzos and refer you to therapy when I am actually really really sick and has been since I was 6 years old. I never knew that benzos had such a hold on me or that they were even this addictive until now... I've learned a lot over the internet and KZread and I'm just thankful that I've made it through this far and pray to God that I can keep going because I don't know what I'm going to do for work which wasn't my fault but anyway no clue what I'm going to do for work, no clue how to get out of the bed some days... The last and final day that I finally had enough and I took the if you have that she or that I saved I felt like bugs are crawling all over my skin it was the worst thing ever. I've read so many stories like yours but you really resonated with me and I wanted to say thank you for sharing your story because without people like you I would literally feel like I was all alone and that there have been no one who has been through this hell not that I wish it on anyone but I didn't realize it did this to people I would have never gotten on the medicine if I did. I wish you luck I will be thinking about you and perhaps we can chat from time to time if you need someone to talk to obviously once I get more stable because right now I don't think you'd want to talk to me haha when I was at the large mental health facility where I live in Charlotte North Carolina they when I was at the large mental health facility where I live in Charlotte North Carolina they had me Effexor, lithium, Remeron, Gabapentin, Depakote, Wellbutrin, oh my God you name it I was on it they kept trying and antidepressants and I wasn't depressed so they would do the opposite and make me depressed I was very much more just on a roller coaster ride and it's hard to treat that I realize that but you don't give somebody that doesn't have depression antidepressants because it's going to do the opposite a lot of medicine does the opposite to me for instance Benadryl or things that should make you tired don't make me tired. so finally when I found the Lamictal I was very grateful Seroquel working okay for sleep so I took it for a little while at a very low dose because I finally was like this stuff makes me like a zombie so I got down to 25mg and then I ended up going to the ER but mental health ER years and years ago and they gave me Klonopin and all of a sudden my physical tics stopped and I was able to live a primarily normal life so to have that taken has been devastating. I found out today the actual reason why she tried to take them not to mention the overall facility is just not prescribing benzodiazepines.

I usually have the gift of gab and it's very easy to talk to pretty much anyone. 6 months off and I can barely keep eye contact and hold a conversation. Is this normal? The hell is wrong with my brain? It's like it's dead.

Yep thats normal. Same happened to me. I started just saying hello to 1 person per day. Did that for a few weeks. Then 2. Then more sentences. Wasn't able to socialize for a long time. Probably two years and now I public speak! It'll go away don't worry!

@@AngiePeacockMSW As a person who has had to overcome extreme shyness I understand the importance of forcing myself through the anxiety, however I feel like pushing myself to hard in this regard is kind of unnecessary torture if time will heal it up and my nerves aren't as raw. +Healingfrom Benzos I have to go into this with courage. There is no easy road for any of us trudging the path toward homeostasis. I am not ok with my husband spending this amount of money on my pathetic ass. It pisses me off that he got stuck with a screwed up person like me. He doesn't deserve any of what I bring. I have to make this experience as successful as I can because he deserves that. I could give two shits about my issues. I just suck at life.

leslie Petoski none of this is your fault. Think of it this way... that treatment facility will be a much easier road than many of us have to take. On your hard days. KNOW that if I can heal from a cold turkey, you will heal too. One day, you will look back and think “holy shit, I made it through that mess and lived to tell.” You can do this. It won’t be easy but it will be worth it. Freedom is priceless.
