26-sided antique stone die
This antique gaming die was made in Zöblitz from the locally mined serpentine stone, probably between 1880 and 1910. It is a rhombicuboctahedron, so it has 26 sides. Only the 18 square sides are used. Twelve sides have the numbers 1 to 12, and six sides have letters. Two games are played simultaneously. The letters are for Put & Take, a game that goes back to the middle ages.

Fascinating, I have my grandfathers house that set which was a way of stimulating cricket with To six sided die, though these weren’t the normal cubic shape. They were hexagon all prism. I understand the game used to be played with simple versions of these made from pencils, my grandfathers it was from the 1920s.B
From rubik to magic to calculator to dice I wonder how the box of this dice is still alive
What a brilliant find Jaap - it's so easy to walk past little gems like that - I'm often guilty of being side tracked by the big shiny things and could have easily missed something like this. I'm almost tempted to recreate one using a 3D printer!!!

I knew it was pretty special when I saw it, but it was only after researching it just how special. They hardly ever still have the box and instructions.
