Being the video director for each and every one of the above chosen highlights, and having had the honour of working with John (and Night of the Proms) for over 20 years, i'm having a hard time coping with the fact that we'll never have one of his interpretations of classic pop- & rocksongs anymore. Great singer, fantastic musician, but above all: a fine man. Thank you for all these great memories John.

Ich kann noch gar nicht glauben, dass wir John nicht mehr in der NOTP wiedersehen werden. Er war die sichere Bank. Schon für ihn alleine hat sich der Konzertbesuch gelohnt. Wie soll es ohne ihn nur weitergehen. Er war so talentiert, hat all die Songs so gefühlvoll und ausdrucksstark interpretiert. John, we will miss you so much!

Genauso ist es! Und niemand konnte bisher seinen Song auch nur im Ansatz performen. Gibt es überhaupt Sänger, die sich das zutrauen? Dazu gehört eine tolle Range, Mut und viel Liebe zur Musik .

Mr. Music 🤍 er bleibt unvergessen. Er hat dieser außergewöhnlichen Show immer diese besondere (Musik)Note gegeben, nicht nur mit „Music“, und wollte dennoch nie im alleinigen Rampenlicht stehen, sondern einfach gute Musik für das Publikum auf die Bühne bringen. Oh shit how did I miss this on the news? Well that's just spoiled my day!

To live without YOUR music would be impossible to do. Danke an das gesamte NOTP-Team für diesen besonderen Tribut an den großen Musiker John Miles. Und viel Kraft für die kommende Zeit. Bei den letzten beiden Stücken müssen frisch geschnittene Zwiebeln in meiner Nähe gestanden haben.

Mit Tränen in den Augen und einem Lächeln an die Erinnerung an seine jahrelangen grandiosen Auftritte bei den Proms sehe ich mir das Special gerade an. RIP John Miles.

Ich habe ihn in so vielen Shows der Notp erleben dürfen. In unserer Erinnerung wird er weiterleben. Die Proms ohne ihn kann ich mir kaum vorstellen.

Mit seinem Welthit " Music " verbinde ich eine grandiose Zeit in meinem Leben. Diese Zeit hat mich sehr geprägt und ich könnte es jeden Tag in Dauerschleife hören . Ich habe immer wieder Gänsehaut. Tränen in den Augen und bin völlig geflasht . Leider blieb es mir verwehrt ihn mal live zu erleben

He was indeed a star Joanne........ one of my all time favourite artists, saw him a few times at the height of his many musical powers (Zaragon and MMPH late 70s early 80s). Stunning live performer who had a loyal but minimal following. RIP John.

@@ndav5677 he was born near me and as I grew up I always followed him. I once saw him on a bus and he had some sheet music and was putting notes on in green ink. I so wish I had had the nerve to ask him what he was writing! I remember saying to mum "I saw John Miles on the bus he must have fallen on hard times"- probably hadn't, probably just convenient on the day! Saw him live with Tina Turner on mums 65th birthday at NEC Birmingham. He got a mention at mums funeral earlier this year. I like to think they are chatting somewhere about music!😀

@@joannebagley1492 Wow sounds fab- I always have this abiding memory of one of his gigs ( the Dominion in Tottenham Court rd around 79/80) My best mate and I along with other unknowns were debating as to why he was not better appreciated ( think we were having a comfort break at the time lol). His gigs were always dynamite. I just listened to one of the tracks on here- 'live' version of Nice Man Jack- you get a sense of the power of his delivery. BTW I'm from around those parts too, tho a Maccam rather than a Geordie!

@@ndav5677 I was born in Newcastle lived in Washington- went to Newcastle one week and Roker Park the next one! I think John Miles was probably underrated but at the same time seemed very well respected by his fellow singers and musicians- you just have to watch the likes of Mel Cs face and Tina Turner's when they are singing with him. He always looked happy to be doing what he was doing.

@@joannebagley1492 Yes you're so right. When you look at who he worked alongside, Parsons and Page to mention just two you realise he was a musician's musician. I'm just a little sad he didn't do more of his own touring rather than spend 35 years doing the Euro prom circuit- our loss his gain maybe? Btw have you got/seen the DVD from 92/93 via German gig (John Miles in Concert) It shows how his song-writing skills had not diminished- there are some belters on there! Nice talking to a kindred Miles spirit (am a bit in awe that you lived nearby lol)

First time that I watch the video with orchestra, wonderful! I was moved. Tears of joy. After almost 50 years it's still a masterpiece.

Un grandissimo artista capace di cantare e suonare qualsiasi brano, forse un po' sottovalutato dai critici. Music rimarrà per sempre un brano insuperabile. Peccato ci ha lasciato troppo presto. 😢😢😢

I started going to Night of the Proms in the late 80's and have been to many editions over the years. Although I don't really like the direction they have gone into, more pop than classical music, John Miles was the one person you would still go back for. He will be missed in more ways than one and without him, I am not even sure I will ever visit the concert again. It just won't be the same without him. Calling him just Mr Night of the Proms would not do him justice as he was much more than that but over the years, he did become just that. Very nice to watch this tribute though. Keeps the memory alive.

I cant believe its been over a year since his passing, I remember Music being played on a tiny AM radio in the late 70's and can honestly say it had a massive effect on my varied musical tastes. A sorely underrated artist, sadly now missing from our lives but never forgotten by the fans.

Thank You NOTP for this. He was a Icon for NOTP and everyone. Exceptional Talent and Musician. A gentle and kind gentleman. When I met John 2005 when over their with Donna Summer, he welcomed us all with open arms and John and I had been friends since then. You will be missed by all.

Die NOTP war immer um unseren Hochzeitstag herum und wir waren fast immer dabei. John Miles und die NOTP leuteten für uns immer eine ganz besondere Zeit ein. Die Konzerte waren stets von ihm getragen und - als nun nicht mehr ganz junge Frau - träumte ich immer davon, ihm einmal persönlich "Danke" sagen zu dürfen. Das hat zwar leider nicht geklappt, aber ich verneige mich hier vor ihm und sage von Herzen Dankeschöööön für diese vielen schönen Momente: "Du bleibst in unseren Herzen!!!" Und wer weiß - vielleicht erreicht Dich doch mein Gruß?

Was für ein schönes Special, tolle Musikauswahl auch wenn mir persönlich da noch your're the Voice aus dem Jahre 2004 gefehlt hat . 2001 habe ich meine erste Night of the Proms live in Köln gesehen. John Miles war für mich unabhängig von den Künstlern der Hauptgrund. Ihn live zu erleben, das war schon magisch..Ich kann mich noch gar nicht mit dem Gedanken anfreunden,dass er nicht mehr unter uns weilt.. Das fällt irgendwie schwer zu glauben.. Warum zeigt man sowas schönes nicht mal im Fernsehen??? Könnt ihr das nicht mal auf DVD pressen? Ich bin mit sicher einige würden sich diese kaufen und damit vielleicht was gutes unterstützen.. Ich weiß nur eins.. Das ist eine schöne Erinnerung an einen Ausnahme Künstler. Da oben im Himmel haben sie jetzt eine richtig tolle Band...
