25 Year Old SNAPPER Riding Lawnmower RESTORATION. Will it Mow our Yard?

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I picked up a 25 year old Snapper Riding Lawnmower for our almost 20 degree hills. Will it mow our yard or did I make a bad purchase? Watch the video to see this 1998 Snapper Mower transformed with a few parts, some paint, and a little elbow grease. Oh and don't forget the degreaser to remove the actual built up grease and dirt. I hope you enjoy the video.

I like these snappers big time. The older the better. I had an early 2000's Snapper, still kicking myself I sold it. Ill get another one in the future

I worked 43 years AT the Snapper plant, one suggestion, if you make you fuel line a little longer you then can pull the tank OUT of the bracket & set beside the tire upright when you set the mower on the bumpers, this way it doesn't matter how full the tank is and less chance of the fuel flooding the engine

Nice machine, I have 2 Snappers a 28 inch Hi Vac, and a regular deck 30 inch. I eventually replaced both engines with B@S 13.5 hp Intek motors.

42:38 The WHY you ask about in filling instructions of the differential is because when you SEE the "00" grease coming OUT of the bottom hole then when the mower is set level then the complete differential internal parts are sufficiently covered with the grease, some UNLEARNED or refuse to follow directions fill the case till the lube comes out of the top hole and in doing so that OVERFILLS the case

The part that the tire is screwed into, seems to be missing a plug at the end. All the grease was in the cap. Do i need to replace the triangular part replaced

I believe the belt is 72.25" but it would be best to look up your stock number to ensure you're getting the correct size for your mower. Thanks for watching!

FYI: If the differential case was dry, COMPLETELY EMPTY like for a rebuild, the factory states it should take 24 OZ. and for the Chain Case it requires 2 OZ Max

@@biblesbulliesbogies1143 There is a good bit of misinformation on his channel, he treats all Snappers the same and they are NOT, that's why BEWARE of a channel that works on them that doesn't tell you the Model / Series that they are working on.

35:30 You DON'T use "gear oil" the rear end & chain case was NOT designed for "liquid" type lube, the tolerances are too wide even with NEW parts to keep "gear oil" inside, it WILL LEAK OUT and your internal parts will be destroyed.
