In this video, my wife and I hike 25 total miles/ 3 days in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Starting on Jakes Creek Trail and camping at backcountry sites #26 and #23. Also Spending 5-6 miles on the Appalachian trail. A fun loop with great views and TONS of elevation. A trail that makes you appreciate Ultralight gear! The best backpacking Tennessee has to offer in my opinion!

I was intending on staying at site 27 on my 3rd day but had an interesting experience which led me to hike out That night after a brief nap w a 16ish mile day from double gap springs shelter. I didn’t find out till after that it has led others to discomfort and and eerie feeling. Thanks for letting us live vicariously!

I tried to do this exact hike about 1.5 months ago. During my hike to 26 some hurricane remnant storms that where originally blowing away towards the east swung back to the west and stayed over me all night. It was a straight down pour once the rain started. I could not find a decent flat spot for my tent in that site since it was dark and raining. I slept for maybe an hour. It ended up be my first hike that I ended early and walked back to my car the next morning completely drenched. Even though I ended it early I still loved it. I ran into bears twice on my way to 26.

"Smokys" (more than one Smoky...mountain). "Smokey's" (something that belongs to Smoky). For her - shorten poles on uphills, lengthen them on downhills. In between on the flats. Leaving them too long makes them harder to handle. They seemed to be getting in her way. It was a fun video to watch. The interaction between individuals in a couple breathes life into already stellar video content. Thanks 👍

Ill be doing an out and back on Jake's and Miry on the 5th, and posted a question on one of my hiking groups about the water situation on CS26, and someone shared your video. I heard it was pretty hit or miss. So you found the water source to be fairly decent and not a long trek from camp? I really enjoyed watching it, thank you, a few things though raised my eyebrows :) first there was ice and you hiked in T-shirts and shorts. Here in Ukraine in Carpathians, which are not the highest mountains(up to 6700ft) I guess like Smokys, in November we are dressed pretty solid with at least warm mid layer on the warm day, and second surprise were your interesting comments about first day climbing being not such great hiking day, again I compare it to Carpathians, where on any given regular hiking day we would be climbing 3000-5000ft or more and that continues ascend and descend process would be the essence and the whole idea of good hiking, kind of inseparable, pls don't get me wrong, I'm not criticizing, just interesting: a bit different attitudes on different part of the globe.

I ordered my 40FS yesterday and opt for the Suspension Version over the Frameless cause It’s the only pack with a hipbelt and just like u I prefer to carry the weight on my Hips ..
