Thanks, Tim. I have the Shard and the NanoStriker on my keychain - the Shard comes in pretty handy every now and then. I used to carry the SwissTech Utilikey as well, but nixed it a good while back. I carry less on my keychain now, because I have been carrying a SAK all the time on a belt pouch and put my keychain light there.

The Gerber clutch, I’d definitely recommend the knife on it. It was the first multi-tool I got for Christmas at 4 years old from my dad. Cut nearly half my finger off a day later and had to get 7 stitches. It’s a good tool!

I've got one of the leatherman styles, and the spring on the scissors has broken 3 times. The weird thing is that it's never been when I was using the tool, but when I've taken it out of my pocket I've noticed that the spring has snapped. No idea why, but it keeps happening!

    2 жыл бұрын

@@brimstone33 I carry the Style most days, but switch it out for the Dime occasionally. The only time I had to contact the manufacturer of either tool was for the same reason: Lost tweezers. Leatherman gave me the option to ship in the whole tool for a warranty claim, or to buy replacement tweezers out-of-pocket. Needing to mail them the tool just so they could pop in a set of tweezers was pretty silly. It was my own fault for losing the tweezers, so I will credit them for at least having options for me. But I never bothered to follow through. Gerber never replied to me. A new set of tweezers just showed up in the mail a couple of weeks later! So, I will give the win to Gerber's customer service over Leatherman's, in this instance

I carry a Fisher Space Pen Bullet in my back pocket. It is a simple 2-piece design where the cap goes on the other end to make a full-size pen. And because it's a Space Pen, there are no worries about getting it to write in any orientation. The Rescue-Me is a problem on a keychain because the tool will drop off too easily. Mine sits in the little coin tray on my car door. I have other similar tools, but this is the only one with the spring-loaded glass breaker that's so simple to use. I've seen cops wail on side windows with their flashlights, Asp etc. and be amazed when I barely touch it and it shatters.

I've had a Leatherman Squirt PS4 on my keychain for more than a year. It's just an ideal compact pocket tool. Most of the time I don't notice I'm carrying it. I'm never without my keys, so I'm never without a useful blade, scissors, pliers, a couple of little screwdrivers and a nailfile. It's small, but rugged and well-made, and it saves me from having to carry a larger pocketknife or tool. Lately a lens keeps popping out of my glasses (I'm overdue for a new pair), and the PS4 has been quite handy as a repair tool.

After some use you’ll find that most of their stuff is just a gimmick. Wait till you use one of the sbiners & it fails this simple task and you loose your keys or whatever you were hanging on it. I found the best biners come from the hardware store & are weight rated. With these your keys etc won’t accidentally fall off.

Yes, the Victorinox your have it's the Classic SD. I always carry the Victorinox Minichamp, it's slightly bigger but it has a lot of useful tools, and still smaller than the multitools you show in the video. It's a bargain for the price

That magnet you didn't like is something I've been searching for, for a while. While it may not work for keys there's plenty of other uses. What's the brand? Also, the boker minibar is an incredible pry bar, scraper, bottle opener, and all around useful tool as well. I think it ran me $40 when I got it but it is the most used tool on my edc, besides my daily knife carry.

I found this neodymium magnet at Wal Mart too in the key section for $5.00. While it's obviously too powerful to keep in your pocket. I keep it around to make a retrieval tool to pick up metal items dropped. Keep it around to test metals if you scrap metals. You can also use it to remove the security devices from clothing if you happen to have some one forget to remove one. Obviously you can use it to securely hang a key from a metal surface. You can use it to hang a flashlight overhead. I recommend it. Just use common sense.

Resqme - absolutely should be on everyones key chain. Used it on double glazing and worked a treat when had to get into an old persons house in an emergency (one pane at a time of course!). If you dont have this on your car keys, you're missing a trick!

Playing one-up, I have a NukAlert radiological detector that can be cliped to a keyring. About the size of 2 Zippos side by side (weighs about the same as one), has a 10-year battery and is always on. And it's certified.

I would recommend a pill container, mine is big enough to have 2-3 pills of anti-histamine, asipirin, acid reflux meds, and a rolled up $20. Might not be for everyone but I have a keychain nail clipper which is great I can't stand having a hang nail being able to take care of it on the go is very convenient, I also have the Victorinox Swiss Army Compact which is a great knife for edc.

Many late-model vehicles have laminated glass on side windows, which won't yield to tools designed to break them. You can find out the lamination clearly by looking at it above when door is open...
