25 Basic ASL Signs For Beginners Part 2 | Learn ASL American Sign Language

This video shows how to sign basic American Sign Language (ASL) signs for beginners to learn to communicate with Deaf people more easily. This video is the second part to the original 25 Basic ASL Signs for Beginners video posted (linked here if you haven't watched yet :) ** • 25 Basic ASL Signs For... ** ). Click more to read more.
Hi!! :) I know this video is a little too fast for some of you and I’m so sorry about that!! Will try to slow down in the next lesson video!! ;-) If you use Instagram on a daily basis, you should come join us on Instagram!! :) I teach a sign or two almost everyday!! @SignedWithHeart
I will film a new video soon showing 25 more signs (making it 75 basic ASL signs) so be sure to subscribe so you don't miss a video!! :)
** Quick 411 **
There are a few different American Sign Language (ASL) variations for “what”, “who”, and “why”. I only showed one of each. I will show other variations later. Also, I will film a video soon explaining more about the whole eyebrows thing. Basically, you lower your eyebrows when asking a WH-question (including HOW) and then you raise your eyebrows when asking a “Do you…” question (questions that you’re expecting either a yes or no response). Also, the sign for “learn”, if you sign it just once then it means “learn” (I want to learn sign language) but if you want to say you are currently learning, emphasis on the “ing”, then signing “learn” twice will show that you’re currently learning. Hope this quick 411 helps!! :)
If you have any questions about the signs shown in the video or related to sign language in general, feel free to comment below in the comment section. :)

I'm loving the class, there's no deadlines so you can go at your own pace. it's not to take for a degree but if you are learning to be fluent for a friend or family member it's fabulous

    @@zena6565 Just so you know, companies often don't hire people who are under 18 because the labor laws for minors are stricter and more complicated than they are for people who are of age. And for a big chain like Victoria's Secret, individual stores aren't in a position to make exceptions to those policies - they won't have the right paperwork available in order to hire you and make sure your tax stuff is set up correctly. It's not that they think 17-year-olds don't have the maturity or the right skills - they legally can't hire them. That said, knowing more than one language, including ASL, is definitely valuable and will look good on your application. And if they think you're a good fit they might keep you in mind to hire on once you're 18. (If this is a reference to something I'm not getting, ignore me lmao I'm old)

    There is 2 reasons I wanna learn 1. I wanna be able to talk to deaf ppl like you 2. I wanna be able to say stuff without my family and friends knowing LOL 😄😄 EDIT: this girl should win an award bc she is a hero! She really is she's like a teacher but better than one I bet she has taught a teacher sign language! She's just that good I would love to have her as my sign language teacher! I wonder how old she's was when she learned sign language? Well how ever old she was she has masterd it!! Plz keep making videos! You're super good at this also do you know anyone who's also deaf? EDIT: I hope you never stop making videos you are soooooo gooood at signing but have you ever thought of getting hearing aids? You could still do sign language if you don't like to talk, but the hearing aids could help too I'm just saying.

    I like the way you use sentences. I learned ASL for my co-workers. That was 45 years ago. When I left that workplace in 78 they all said I would forget ASL. Then I moved to England 28 years ago and have not used it in that time. I am amazed at how much I have retained. My wife now wants to learn ASL so I am teaching her. When my sister saw me practicing ASL those many years ago, she became an interpreter Thanks for the lessons they really help.

    We have a new kid at my school who's deaf. He's very nice. Everyone treats him like an outsider and avoid him. Even though he has an interpreter, my friend and I are learning sign language so he doesn't feel excluded. Yesterday, my friend and I greeted him in sign language. I told him I wanted to learn. I'm thankful videos like this are easily accessible so others like my friend and I can learn easily and quickly, so the new kid can fit in and feel comfortable. Thank you!

I knew a little bit of ASL from back in middle school and was able to just barely communicate with him (and he seemed very happy for my attempt, even if it was just basic signs like asking "are you deaf") so I figured I'd use this opportunity to brush up on my ASL and fully learn it this time around. Hi! Love the videos so far, I am learning so much, thank you! Got a quick question though. Why are you signing "where are you from?" as "You from where?". Does it matter in which order you start off your sentence? In other words can you sign it as you actually say it out loud? So it would be "where are you from?" So where finger waving, then point to you, and then from sign. Thank you for your help!

    @Tyler Deatherage @Ashley Stacy I know this was five months ago, but I would still like to reply! Like any other language, ASL has its own grammar structure! You basically sign the most important words first, and the rest of them follow. It's like french! If you were going to say, "the blue shirt," you would actually say, "the shirt blue" (in french). I still don't completely understand ASL either, but that's why I'm here! I hope this makes sense!

    For "no problem" wouldn't you sign "none problem" instead of the literal "no" and "problem"? The way you signed it seems more like English grammar rather than ASL

  • @signedwithheart

    @signedwithheart

    7 жыл бұрын

    That's another way you can sign "no problem" ("none problem") but honestly, I personally think that is still English. American Sign Language is not completely free from English. "How you?" is still English even if "are" is dropped. "How are you?", "Have a good day", "No problem" - from my point of view (as a born-Deaf bilingual), these phrases are English- or what English speaking people would say. We live in a hearing world- so it's natural that some of us incorporate “hearing” (English) into our signing. By the way, signing “fine” and “it was nothing” (two F handshapes) are a couple of different ASL ways you could sign in response to “thank you” instead of “no problem”. Hope this helps!! :)

I've purchased books and am trying to teach myself ASL so that I can better help them. plus I thought it might bring a smile to their faces if one-day they walk in and don't have to write everything down to communicate. It's difficult to cover all of their needs and make sure they are getting the best care when we can't fully communicate. you are a wonderful teacher and I can't express enough how much I really appreciate your instruction!
