@@saba1689with dumbbells your speed will not increase, explosiveness increases by resistance bands, you need something to resist your efforts. Dumbbells are not necessarily useless though, they may improve your ability to keep your hands up and boxing for longer, God knows how many professional fighters tend to drop their hands after a few rounds of getting tired, only to get severely punished. So you haven't really wasted your time, you should have stronger shoulders also. But surely your speed won't increase like this for which I am sorry because I have been in your spot once before. Hope this finds you well so that you can start training more efficiently

My big thing is shoulder endurance. Especially my lead hand as I'm jabbing so much it just ends up feeling like I can't hold my arm up and keep my form towards the end of 3 rounds. It's happened in every fight I've had, I end up with a sloppy jab. Is there anything to help improve shoulder endurance? I take it these would help.

I used to have this problem before and I’m not sure if what I done will help you at all but you can try it and see. I think it was down to the amount of rest after training meaning I would train mon, wed, fri and my shoulders would hurt on a Monday. Then for about 2 weeks I consistently there 100 jabs a day and eventually when I went to training sessions my arm wouldn’t hurt at all. I stopped doing the 100 jabs a day and the pain didn’t come back until I had an injury and had to take 2 months off all sports. I went back to doing my 100 jabs a day and the pain went away again. It might not work for you but you can give it a try

This helped me. Get a 10 pound weight. Extend your lead hand like you would jab and do static holds. Make sure you are in a good stance and keep your core tight. You can do this with all the punches and you will definitely feel the difference as you build up your strength/endurance. I hope it helps

@@buffoonustroglodytus4688He’s right but also wrong. Yeah moving them as fast as possible makes you faster but doing ryan Garcia shadowboxing speed drills doesn’t necessarily equate to being able to throw real combos with blinding speed, it’s simply a tool in the arsenal. Using weights doesn’t just build endurance bc you’ll build the speed from trying to punch with the weights as fast as possible. Why do you think everyone feels fast after shadowboxing with weights.

Using weights doesn’t increase hand speed by that much if at all. It gives you the illusion of it because when the weight comes off you feel more free to move. But really it just builds endurance a bit more and also slows your hands down so you can focus on form rather than just throwing hands as fast as possible. The only way to reall increase hand speed is to start slow and throw your jab or whatever punch you want to work on. And increase its speed fractionally every time your throw the punch. You go untill you start to slow down rather than speed up. Then your repeat this every workoutx

Basics of humans, instead of wanting to be faster through some gimmick why not train speed. You train power by musclular activation in sequence from your big to to your knuckles. To train speed you need that activation to be faster. Weights will not improve your speed as much as the power your using. If I know I need to move my foot, leg, hip, arm and wrist to throw a punch what I wouldnt do is forcus on the punch but every part of movement which makes the punch. If your foot twists a little faster, your hips rotate a little more, ect you will not only find better speed but more power as well. Think of it like a whip, a whip's tip can break the speed of sound but it isnt because the tip is heavier or because it trained to be faster but because the whole length of the whip is in motion adding more force and momentum to the tip just like throwing a punch your whole body moves to give power and speed to your punch. Finally a way to artificially increase your speed is to increase your reaction window increasing the speed of your perception or lowing the time it takes to react may not make you faster per se however it will cause you to feel faster for both you and your opponent. The body has an intresting messure to make sure that it cannot over exert and injure itself. In the case of gloves hand injuries are more likely due to the subconscious thought of your hands being protected allowing your body to punch harder and faster. If you learn to control every part of your body as if your simply breathing air you will find many ways to increase your speed. Weather that be adding more joints to the attack or by finding a more efficient way of attacking. Finally speed is a terrible thing to train because while your speed may allow you to land more shots around a guard people tend to match the speed of their surroundings especially when in an intense situation. Rather if you work on speed control and timing you can be as slow as you like while still landing the shots. If you control the flow or speed of the fight than your more likely to win. There is an exercise that shows how gard it is to dodge an attack that starts slow but speeds up unpredictably. P.S. I hope you all have a fantastic day and stay safe.

24oz is tiny but people gotta start somewhere. I started with canned food, then built up to half gallon milk jugs, then full milk jugs, then weights. I use between 5lbs-40lbs dumbell weights in my hands depending on the punch, form, and time alloted. Rotate the weights and keep controlled form. Steadily ramp up your weight until comfortable exhaustion. Only train to failure 16% of the time. Do every motion you can possibly do to work out EVERY muscle in your arm. Once you hit comfortable exhaustion start counting back down. Do compound exercises and train footwork in an adjustable weighted vest. Keep your arms up with the weights and do weighted steps while punching with weights.
