Your videos actually motivated me to get Canon FD 24mm Wider angle leaves more room to breathe visually and puts viewer inside the scene

Why not get the 24mm and then have a shortcut button to crop 1.6 and now u have a 38 mm shot which is close to a 35mm and u get to keep your aperture to blur background. Two focal lenses for the price of one.

The Sony35 1.4 gm ‘got money’ lens is a great lens I have it too but on occasion I use a 28mm 2. Nikkor ais 😉

I shoot with a7iv with 24mm 1.4, the crop makes the frame look like 35mm but the background compression still looks like a 24mm. I never realized this until now and leaves me confused as to which lense to chose when I receive my a7s3 😅

I generally prefer 35mm. Easier to find clean backgrounds, less distortion. 24mm can be the right choice for multiple subjects or a compelling background, or if you are in tight indoor spaces. But 24mm is also the common equivalent smartphone focal length, so 35mm looks different from that.

Fantastic video. It's really nice to see the comparison of 24 vs 35mm in video with the same framing; most other reviews only do it with pictures. I really like the 24mm for video, it is much more immersive because the field of view is more like what I would see if I were there. Whereas 35mm is way too cropped for immersion, it feels like it's better for stills. Howewever, what do you think about trying something in between like 28 or 30 mm? Could it be the best of both worlds for a 1-lens video? Also, do you have to crop a lot when stabilizing the footage? If so, then the final focal lengh is always 25% longer at least, right?

Hi! How do you usually choose music for video portraits? Do you rely on the image of the model before meeting her? Do you coordinate the track with her?

Hey! I am always looking for new music and save them in various playlists. Song choice comes mostly after shooting to check what fits the vibe :)

35mm f/1.8 vs 24mm f/2.8? No kidding. 35mm + f/1.8 will always have better bokeh vs 24mm f/2.8. You could at least do comparison 24 vs 35mm with the same f/1.8 aperture.
