Canelo's career accomplishments: defeated 18 world champions and is a champion in four divisions. He's only the 5th fighter in history to claim Ring titles in 3 divisions, and the ONLY fighter to both claim the Ring belt AND unify titles in 3 divisions. He's also the only ex welterweight since Thomas Hearns (who was 6'1) to become champ at 175. And currently reigning as the only four belt undisputed champ in the history of 168 despite being the smallest man in the division.

Mexicos contribution to boxing is the equivalent of Brazils contribution to MMA. Anytime you speak of pedigrees or powerhouses for talent, Whether it’s Boxing for Mexico or MMA for Brazil, these countries set the highest of standards.

He was never gonna live up to what his dad accomplished, but he also didn’t help it by parting 24/7 instead of taking boxing seriously. Iirc Canelo said that he didn’t like that Chavez Jr put Mexico to shame by not taking boxing seriously. Chavez Jr could’ve been a great boxer.
