24 Hours In Bilbao: What To Eat In Bilbao

BILBAO, SPAIN - I'm in the incredible city of Bilbao in the Basque Country. In this Bilbao vlog, I want to show you that Bilbao is a unique city in northern Spain is full of amazing things to do, delicious Spanish food known locally as pintxos (tapas) and one of the best museums in the world, the Guggenheim Museum. Bilbao was once an industrial city but has developed itself into one of Europe's must visit city destinations. In the video today, on this Spanish food inspired cruise excursion, I visit the La Ribera Market to see the seafood and fresh produce before walking around the city to discover more of what Bilbao has to offer. I then try a Pastel Vasco, a local pastry for the first time in Bilbao. After a quick visit to the Guggenheim Museum, we go for a very special experience of a Spanish cooking class and meal in a Txoko. A Txoko is a gastronomical society in the Basque Country where men come together to cook, experiment with new ways of cooking, eat and socialise. They are now opening up to tours and of course women, so I feel very lucky to have had this experience with Princess Cruises.
This "Market To Plate" Experience with Princess Cruises is available when you stop in Bilbao on your Cruise Personaliser - For more Information on the itinerary and prices, visit the website here: www.princess.com/cruise-searc...
Please visit @princesscruises for more information regarding this cruise trip on Sky Princess and the long awaited cruise ships Sun Princess and Star Princess, the next generation of ships called Sphere Class, which come out in 2024 and 2025 respectfully.

    I´m glad to see how you enjoyed your visit to the market. It is not common for tourists to appreciate the value of having all those fresh products just brought from their place of origin. In Bilbao, we are proud of our central market. Greetings and happy travels

    I knew that the Basque Country has the best seafood in Spain. And you showcased that beautifully. By the way the North of Spain has extremely good white wines that accompany their food perfectly. I am a wine geek so I would love to see a bit more wines on your show.

    yes! the wine there is fantastic. I love wine too, to drink that is. I do not know so much about it, which is why it doesn't feature much. I was thinking of making an episode on Madeira wine

    I love this. Although I’ve never been to Bilbao, it’s very high on my list. Me and a bunch of mates had a monthly supper club we called Txoko and we’d hold it in each others homes every month. Hope you’re well Joe 😊

    'Milhojas' literally means 'thousand leaves' (a leaf upon another) and is known too as 'hojaldre', wich becomes from Latin and meaning almost the same: leafy. This kind of pastry originally French (I think so) is very common to find not only in the Basque Country but also in every corner of Spain. I would call to it 'pantxineta': millefeuille + cream + millefeuille + toasted almonds + icing sugar. Ongi etorri Bilbora! Welcome to Bilbao!

    Do people speak Spanish or Basque in daily life in the Basque country?

  • @edurvevtx7319

    @edurvevtx7319

    2 ай бұрын

    @@emircalskan7433 Well , only 1/3 part of population can speak Basque/Spanish or Basque/French. The other 2/3 part speaks only or French or Spanish, because Basque language is official only in 3 of the 7 provinces. In villages people speak Basque while in the big cities the Basque language is spoken in some places , academic, cultural, places only .
