24 Hour Zwift Epic | How Far Can Hank Ride?

Спорт

Isolation can drive us to do things we haven't before, which, in Hank's case, means attempting a 24 hour ride on Zwift, possibly one of the most mentally challenging GCN presenter challenges yet! From the relative comfort of his own home, Hank bring us all of the ups and downs a 24 hour indoor bike ride brings with it, did he make it, and did he find it harder than the 24 hour outdoor epic he rode last year with Mark Beaumont?

@Deepboy666 I guess chances of catching the virus are much much higher in Italy than somewhere in the middle of nowhere in the UK. Also, I live 40km away from Germany's first epicenter and yet there are 0 cases in my village and less than 50 cases in the next bigger city and since the virus is not airborne I guess you really have to be in contact with a person having it in order to contract it. I'm glad I stopped working on time (went on holidays on March 1) otherwise I would have 100% gotten it.

Hours outside, free with the wind vs inside on the torture rack. I can't stand it. I've actually cancelled my Zwift because it was so depressing. Now I just use simple (non-game) training apps to get my workout in. If it's cold and I want to ride, then I'm bundling up and riding, even in the snow. This is so crazy. I hope he doesn't keep doing this stuff too often, because he'll crack eventually.

Hank man. This was so good. This is one of the best videos since Ollie's hour records. I love these challenges. And I low how in-depth you got the prep , during and post ride! Well done man. Hope your nice and recovered now. And I've got my fingers crossed for some more long distance content from you in the future. A summer 24 hour ride is a must! Bet you can smash it past Scotland when it's not raining. Or how about how far south you can ride from your house 🤣

Your dedication is fantastic! Besides the obvious differences, for me when riding indoors you hear the constant siren call of the always nearby couch, bed, etc whereas on most outdoor rides that option doesn't exist and you are forced to press on. Well done young man!

I've participated in more than half a dozen 24-hour mountain bike relay races (24 Hours of Adrenaline, etc.), but at least we had riding shifts spread out over 5 riders, so it was enough time to eat a proper meal and take a short catnap until you were on deck to race your next lap. Still pretty tough though. This was way more brutal! Kudos on completing it with the distance and NO SLEEP!!!

I agree, it'd be fun if GCN fielded a RAAM team and Si could let his hair get crazy and drive the Chevy van. And I'd cheer for them as the route is, literally, a quarter-mile from my apartment in Central Pennsylvania. But I wouldn't expect them to notice me as this is near the end and by the time the competitors get here, they are pretty much toast. Like a few years ago, Christoph didn't even take his eyes off the road when I stepped off the curb with cheers and applause outside the local McDonald's on Route 16. He probably thought, man, I don't have any time for that kook. And I was okay with it, he was in the zone and soon another victory would be his. And that whole RAAM deal is amazing, tho' I'd prefer that each day be treated as a personal stage, each start at the same time in the morn and close with the same bedroll time. I'm not a fan of riding on public roads without sleep.
