Nice review. You hit all the points, including the one minor disappointment I didn't notice until I built mine up. The lack of usb/thunder bolt 4 . Also I didn't find a usbc header for front of case. I'm very happy with my build and included a 4070 super ti highly recommend and seems on sale at company site.

I think is a good bang for budget, because if it performs like a 13700k, you still have to buy a good cooler for the 13700k. So, for 559 usd you get a good ITX mobo and an i7 13700k performance like cpu that doesn’t gets to hot.

You lose modularity though. Even if you don't plan on upgrading your CPU, in my experience, motherboards fail far more often the CPUs. And it would be waste to junk such a powerful CPU just because the motherboard dies. It has its niche market, but it's definitely not a mainstream desktop CPU replacement.

With the open back exhaust on the built-in heatsink, you could actually skip top-mounting a fan if you used a super-slim case (I'm thinking 1U rack mount) with positive pressure airflow to blow through it. That would allow for a super slim build, perhaps in a keyboard drawer under your desk or, as mentioned before, in a small 1U case (one of the shorter 18" depth ones perhaps) you could mount there instead and not even need a full rack setup. Plus cable management would be a breeze, haha.

I was waiting on some reviews for the MF BD790i and since they are sold out I may just get this one instead for the 4xM.2 and not having much IO. I've seen reviews and such for the BD770i with is the Ryzen 7 one so I know the Ryzen 9 one will be even better. They will help make a very capable small gaming pc with LP gpus like the 4060 and I think ASUS has a LP gpu coming as well. I hear so many people comment and complain about what the mobo/cpu boards won't do knowing that they are geared for a specific crowd but it's good to see channels like yours push them to see their limits. Great video!!!

It's not going above 145w cause the cpu has already reached the maximum all core boost frequency, so anything beyond 150w limit has no effect Also, Minisforum has a ryzen 9 7945hx 16 core and a ryzen 7 7745hx 8 core versions as well I recently built a pc with the 7945hx and rx 7800xt and with AFMF enabled I can pretty much play most of the games at 1440p high with 240hz lock on my monitor

I mean, sure, you could use the 16x pcie slot for a gpu, but I think that the better use for that would probably be a SAS HBA or a 10g or 40g or 100g network card (I am sooo sick of manufacturers only using 2.5g). this should make a great reasonably low powered file server head (particularly with the 4 m.2 slots) - you could do a raidz ssd pool and with an hba and external disk shelf you could do a ~48 disk raidz3 setup (I would go with a 6x 8 disk vdev raidz3 setup to keep rebuild times reasonable in the case of a 48 disk array). there are many good itx 2u server rack mount server cases out there.

I really want something like this in M-ATX. Ditch the back M.2 give me 2 SFF-8643 ports and an extra PCI-E slot for an LSI card. Perfect for a NAS/media server. Or something like the CWWK AMD-7840HS but M-ATX without wasting all the PCI-E lanes on why to many Ethernet ports.

Interesting really like it, I did some searching, specs state gen 5 on the M.2 drives as well as the PCIe 5.0x16, it does make a difference as im looking at 2x the price for gen5 M.2 and would love to see performance on that as well. Really like your presentation on this ITX mobo it made me want to purchase it, found it on Amazon 539.00 better yet P.S. it's in my shopping cart atm. I stand corrected the 4 M.2 are pci 4.0. wondering why if there is the gen 5 speeds are out why are we still using gen 4 in the latest mobo if we have 5.0 x 16 PCIe, still learning I am.

They should have used two separate thermal pads over the 2 NVME's, because as you did it the sticky pad will collect dust and probably be unusable by the time you add a second NVME. I would have cut the film in half and put one side back on where not needed.

Absolutely would've used this in my ZS-LRTX 13900K/4090 6.7L build. It would've saved me a couple hundred bucks & allow direct die cooling. Replace the thermal paste on the die with liquid metal & the temps would be even better. Does the motherboard allow for undervolting in bios or XTU? Easy 2K-4K R23 gain there, if so. Also, the TTC offset in bios may allow for more wattage (it essentially controls the max temp), which is why your wattage was being ignored & temps were always the same.

I hope it doesn't sell almost anything, because otherwise, a bad future will be heading in the PC one that we already went through in the past when processors were soldered to the board and users could not adjust what we bought depending on what we wanted to have, but it depended entirely on the assembler, who normally makes the assemblies that they are interested in and if not, They force you to pay a hell of a lot more for a superior one.

@@theTechNotice it's pretty limited. The Mac has a better integrated GPU and external storage is easy to add. It also offers a faster 10gb ethernet option. This has limited pcie slots so only an expensive GPU, and possibly more storage. Neither is really expandable, but the added internal nvme are nice, but mac can use fast thunderbolt storage in potentially much greater amounts.

Compare how much it would cost to have 96gb ram in a mac studio, and INTERNAL drive with fast speeds such as pcie 4.0 (7000mbs seq read write) OR even pcie 5.0 speeds if not using an external gpu . However if you put an AMD gpu in this, you can install Hackintosh and murder the mac studio for 1/3 of the cost. No thunderbolts or 10gbe in this case, in other builds you could have those though. look into the Minisforum MS-01 for dual 10gbe and usb 4 slots, but slower gpu possible as well as cpu.

I can't see any point or benefit to using a soldered-on laptop CPU in a desktop. Kind of defeats the purpose of owning a desktop and you are limited with what you can do with it. The throw-away BGA turdbook approach ruined laptops, so I view this as an unwelcomed design on a desktop platform. The only entity this benefits is the manufacturer from what I can see. If it was priced at like $150-$175 it might have some merit for building something extra-cheap if you don't care about the gimped performance. If the motherboard or CPU fails, the whole thing becomes e-waste. No moving the CPU to a different motherboard and no dropping in a replacement CPU. Unless you have a laptop that needs a RAM upgrade, you can't even repurpose the memory. Kind of sad and pathetic when you look at the big picture.

For a larger size desktop, I would agree with you. But this is an ITX board. I bought it as soon as it was announced, and am very pleased with it so far, using it as a portable development system where I need a very small size ITX case, without a separate GPU, which can fit into a backpack / small carrying case. It's nearly perfect for my use case, because it fits into a 3.8L case, and has plenty of vertical clearance. Compared to a socketed ITX board, where adding a CPU cooler makes for such a cramped situation that the front panel USB connectors cannot be installed. With the socketed CPU, the CPU needs to be throttled to the point where the performance is even a bit lower than the AR900i. Plus the temperatures are better with the AR900i. The soldered in CPU doesn't bother me, because by the time I'll need to replace this, the 1700 Intel socket will be long outdated, which means I'd just buy another motherboard anyways. The specs that really made this a great solution for me are: Low profile 4 NVME ports Great CPU performance / temperatures Reasonable cost, which was actually less than buying an Asus ITX board, CPU, CPU cooler. Of course other people will have different use cases, and for them maybe such a board doesn't make sense. It certainly wouldn't make sense for me to put in a fixed desktop case. But for an ultra-small ITX case, the board is almost perfect for me.
