I had a nice expensive set of alarms which I loved but they ended up getting nicked, I couldn't afford to replace them with a similar spec set at the time so I just bought a couple of microns to do the job until I got into a position where I could buy a higher end set. While I do miss some of the niceties of the fancier set I've not really felt the need to replace the microns over the last year while they've been filling in, they're just really solid little alarms and do everything well (reliable, sensitive enough, forward/drop back tones, colour change LEDS, easy to silence by flipping the power switch if you need to mess around with the bobbins). Only thing I really miss is having a receiver but only on those nights where it's lashing down and you struggle to hear anything over the rain.

There are of course options in between. I have old Fox Micron MMX's from 2003/4. They were just above the basic model at the time. Small compact head, sensitivity, tone, volume, drop back. Has a jack for illuminated bobbins/hangers. Never had issues with water ingress. I see no need to change them. Like most things they were prob better made back then. Hello Shimano reels!

Most anglers only hit a full blooded run. I've had Delkims for years.I would like the Nash Sirens as they indicate a drop back. I've got some old Fox Microns. They are as good as anything to be honest.

Great info Gerrard well explained ! never new that I’m not a carper but coarse guy. Looking at a river set up for barbel and considering bite alarm system keep posting watch both of these channels at wickersley 👍🏻

Only a Delkim will tell you if a carp sits on the rig . Heavily pressured carp have learned to sit on the rig. I have watched fish ever so slightly make a rod tip drop . Ive seen it happen on Fox , Nash & sonik alarms and theres zero indication from the alarm however delkims register the bite through vibration not forwards or backwards movement.

Delkims are great however there are also some other top ones that are ultra sensitive also, definitely could be a future video comparing them 😎

Expensive alarms are a marketing thing end of discussion,at the end of the day if it lets you no there is a fish there thats all you need,if its hooked its hooked your going to no about it,saying that i sit with delkim txi,-d 😂 but im happy to put my hands up and admit there is no difference FACT

You are correct Stephen that if a fish is hooked you will know about it how ever As Gerrard explains there is so many features and that is what you pay for.

@roofingcontractors3349 done many winters with a set of pro logic senzora alarms and I live on the Scottish border so a lot harsher,never missed a beat in ice snow rain wind,think the set cost me £60,to many people get sucked in by the marketing world,me included these days but I genuinely think,most do the job

All these technolity is handy but not really nescesery all you need in my opinion is volume and sensitivety and they has to be waterproof sorry for my english if there are writing mistakes in

Great English mate, definitely a difference from the cheap vs the expensive in our opinion. Both work brilliantly on screaming runs but not so sensitive runs is when the expensive ones come into their own.

I use Steve nevs turn them on like that s5 job done .

They are all the same, plus bite alarms are for people that cant fish

Lads as a bailiff you lost me at the point you even mentioned illegal guesting lol , no alarm produced would stop illegal guests and the member allowing it to happen to get away with fishing , poor word choice to distinguish product capability.
