I am sharing a spotify playlist for those who are wondering what I'm listening to every week while I'm at work: open.spotify.com/playlist/2eS...
This week I finished the houseportrait in oil of a countryhouse in France. I put it in a frame and delivered it to the clients who were absolutely happy with it. Then I went home and continued the houseportrait in watercolor I started a week ago and I did some preparations for the next commissioned paintings.

“…staying calm and making friends because you need each other - you need people to help you…” Titus, you are like this - an auto mechanic of the soul - 😊 towing the broken down places in other’s hearts, transporting them to beauty, to peace. Thank you.
Your working and thought process is such an engaging attribute of your channel. Thank you for making it accessible to English viewers.

how nice to have time for some solitude and long walks in the woods to feed the soul... wow that sandwich looked really good!! love to see the painting in its stages of development, thank you for the podcast so we can see these places and the artwork!
I discover that , a great painting with very little color could be the real MasterPiece
In this special vlog the automatic translations make "thank you" from the sound if the sparrows. That's so nice, I call them "thank you-birds" from now on😂
Wish I was as calm as you when I paint. Your so enspiring . What a great site ❤
you just need a little lights with the Color , yes , this is the real masterpiece
I've been following you on KZread now for several weeks and enjoy watching not only your amazing paintings but also the thought process that goes into and prior the first brushstrokes. Thank you for sharing this insight into how a professional artist works, something I've not seen before.

I love watching your vlogs. One can learn so much while watching the painting process and your explainations are so precise and bring everything to the point.

Hello Titus, thank you for another wonderful video. I'm sure your French client was very happy with the beautiful painting that you made of his rather peaceful abode. I'm so sorry about the mechanical mishap with your van while in France. That's certainly frustrating; I would be upset too. Hopefully your van will be back with you in the Hague soon 🙏

@@TitusMeeuws That's terrific 👍 It's a pain when one's car breaks down while far away from one's own mechanic.
Greetings from South Africa. Beautiful stuff. Visited your beautiful country last year, because my son now lives in Amsterdam. Imersed myself in wonderful Dutch art, had the time of my life. Keep up the great videos.
Thanks for The video spoke to me a Lot beautiful details! Yes Very Good Thanksyou!😊

Op een terras in de Provence keken we naar de voltooing van het Bourgondische huis. Een boeiend verslag!
This is sooo calming...
I was listening to a podcast which posited the question: What's next after the information age and the attention economy? Short answer: no more talking, just doing. Beyond words is action. I feel that this is what you bring to your channel. Watching video is always a by-product but you really try to convey a direct experience. For that, I am very grateful to you. Proost! 🍻

Your vlogs have become a weekly favourite of mine. The quietness, the movement of water with your brush, the birds and people, your movements through your studio, as well as seeing your daily processes... so relaxing to watch. I really enjoyed watching your process with the foreground bushes, I could relate. I recently had a similar issue with a painting that had some grasses in sand dunes. I chose the image because I wanted to learn how to paint the chaotic movement of the grass. At first I struggled and had to push aside my doubt. Like you, I told myself I can do this. I took a short break and studied other artists work. I returned to my work and achieved my goal.

Just found your channel an hour ago for the first time and I was captivated by the very beautiful birdsong, The birds seem so authorititive, that is what I first thought, they are discussing something very important:) I loved watching you go about your day, making coffee in the traditional way. Made me feel a bit ashamed that I have opted for the quick coffee machine pods, when I was brought up by mediterranean parents lol. The painting is coming along enchantingly, and I cant wait to see the end results! Thanks for sharing a little part of your life with us:). The painting is amazing, what a view........ preserved as long as the painting is hanging where it can be truly appreciated!

the sounds/song of nature is so soothing. Lovely environment you've been in.
The painting is beautiful, lucky owners who commissioned it. I sympathise with you about painting in that dark apartment - the darkness of that space was the first thing I noticed last week when we saw the apartment, for me it would be next to impossible to paint in that darkness and with sooo little light and I admire you for persevering.

Fantastic video, as usual. I'd not heard of Cornelis Vreedenburgh before. I can empathize with the challenge you faced, but from the opposite direction. Instead of seeing too many greens, I don't see them enough, due to CVD (a.k.a. colorblindness). Thanks again for sharing your workflow and beautiful environs.
Literally broke down at the traffic light today. I feel solidarity hahaha. Thank you for your video as always. Highlight of my week

What a treat to be away and sort of hidden from the day to day distractions. I was curious that after you made your coffee and sipped by the window and when you started to paint, it seemed that the only real light source was from the kitchen…a yellowish/warm glow. Would this not create a slight distortion in the color choices you make? Looking forward to my own ‘secret’ travel plans…check that….I see you talked about the light later in the video…😊

Yes, the light was hard to work with. Maybe next time I bring my own
Totally understand about the colour mixes of greens. Unifying those tones and hues can be a very delicate and fraught task. What you achieved though looked absolutely great . TY.

Mir gefällt besonders, wie Du Licht und Schatten in Deinen Werken einsetzt. hello to you from Ukraine! Your videos help me get away for a while from what is happening with us, thank you very much and you do great work. I am also an artist, I paint a lot with watercolors, I wonder what kind of paper do you prefer?
@TitusMeeuws
Жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks. It’s good to know it helped you while a lot is going on in your country. I prefer Arches paper, the thickest. The thinner one is also good, but it needs to be stretched. The thickest can be used directly. I hope you will find freedom soon over there. Freedom is not a thing that must be created. It’s everywhere. In you and me

Titus, do you varnish your oil paintings? I know this was a delivery while you were in France, but I am asking more about other commissions.
@TitusMeeuws

Hi Charlotte. Yes I always use varnish (retouching varnish) before I deliver an oilpianting, but for this painting in France there wasn't enough time left. So I asked the client to visit a framer somewhere to let him put the varnish on it

Hi Titus. How much does the person who ordered the painting influence your choices in terms of focal point and composition? And about lighting - do you not take bulbs with you for approx 5500 K in cases like these?
@TitusMeeuws
Жыл бұрын
Hi Sven. I see a commissioned painting as a collaboration. Me and the client spoke about his wishes and my possibilities to involve those in a painting. Good idea of the lights. I keep that in mind for the next time
With the painting done in oils, how could you frame and deliver it so quickly?
@TitusMeeuws
11 ай бұрын
Hi Florian, I don't use any medium in oil. Only just a little linseed oil if the paint feels to dry. The first varnish is retouching varnish which can be layered quite early. Maybe this layer is still quite wet when I deliver the painting to the client

Well done ......loved it!
