The metaphor about noticing and pointing out a house on fire was perfect. Russell never fails to impress me. I feel sorry for him sometimes as he is portrayed in the media as tilting at windmills when I feel he is doing an admirable job at what he is trying to accomplish. It is simple and straightforward to me. Just get involved in your own life and in the world around you in any way you can. It gives me inspiration and hope. And that is good. Thanks Russell. Peace.

Yep, can't hate the lib in that one. Loads of common sense, a very quick retort style to ridiculous attacks, explains accurately and with honesty, and doesn't claim at all to have all the answers nor even ability to do anything much himself, and instead encourages others a lot, noting small actions have proven to add up to real change. I don't like the extremely risque side, however all the rest makes it tolerable. Definitely a fan. Love it when he interrupts and hammers one of the mainstream interviewers to bits, and they wind up smiling and giving in to the truth, utterly defeated, with their ingrained and trained shell of lies completely destroyed.

I think Russell Brand is a caring, passionate and introspective soul who sees the problems in the world and is trying to do his part to help mankind and its problems. When God asks him at the end of his life , "what have you done with your life my son .....", Im certain that he will have lots to say about how he tried to help. It is better to be part of the solution, than part of the problem. Don't judge a man by the mistakes he might have made, but by how he tried to fix them and even those that even he himself might not even be responsible for.

I've been attempting to consume everything I can find on Russell Brand over the last few days, and I have to say that it's been so extremely relieving to finally hear someone speaking the truth about the trajectory of our society. He educates in a way that is not intimidating or exclusionary. I've ordered his book and am very much looking forward to reading it. This was a great interview, and the host was insightful and obviously does have great empathy for the the difficult war Russell is attempting to wage on our archaic political system and the transnational corporations which control it. It must be tiring, but I hope for nothing more than Russell to continue this quest. The only thing I found myself questioning when Russell spoke, is whether we really do need a a single heroic figure to rally behind, as well as a unified global movement. With the ecological destruction we're raining down, and the complete reliance of our minds on media for formulating opinions, I think a global movement initiated by someone with a feverish intellect and compassion for all people is exactly what we need. If it was dually grounded in the principals of separating money from politics and curbing the mass extinction engulfing the planet, our species just may find a path to an enjoyable sustainable existence.

Brand was very calm and patient with this interviewer, all he did was interrupt Brand constantly. Maybe he loves the sound of his own voice and forgot Brand was there to speak.

I somehow don't think leader of the world would be conducive to the more lateral society that he is spearheading! That said, if we did have to elect a leader of the world I would be inclined to choose him :)

Leaders are a bad idea. We need true democracy, not leaders.

Leaders are fine, in the sense of people who take the lead, show initiative, or break out of the mold. Russel is essentially a leader, we all can be in our own way, which is probably more of what he's actually advocating. Rulers on the other hand... they're a different thing. And I agree 100% with Russel, the last thing we need is for people (even like him) to step up into the existing model to try to control it. The problem is that humans can't rule humans, but we can co-operate.

I think he genuinely is in a good place and simply wants to share that good with others. I think his vision of exposing the inequality is selfless as I also think every time he takes real life seriously, it actually takes away from his "comedian" persona, and that's his livelihood...so, why do people have a problem with one man doing something good because he knows he could make a little, positive difference...it's so easy to criticize those who put themselves out there, but I think people should ask themselves what they've contributed to humanity before they start trying to bring others who are showing action or at least trying. IE, "what have YOU done?"
