It’s because it’s Bucci! College hockey play by play announcer. Mans awesome. Met him multiple times, too.

Every time you hear other play by play and color commentary. It’s makes you appreciate the Wings crew more and more.

I like Bucci in the studio but he's not that good at play by play. Could I do it? No not at all but ESPN back in the day had a dang good lineup of announcers.

The fact that Larkin had the EN goal was sweet, sweet justice.

Im so sick of seeing our guys getting hit from behind IN THE NUMBERS and there's no call but the other team always draws some phantom calls against us.

The hit on Fabbri was dirty and dangerous. The Buffalo player clearly left his feet and hit him square in the numbers. He should at least get a fine for that dirty hit.

Yeah, the hit on Fabbri was a ridiculous no call, wtf NHL? Do we have to wait till a serious tragic injury occurs first before expecting a call?!

Definitely, but it’s so nice to see us be the ones setting the tone for the game instead of battling from behind like Buffalo has all season long. Was pretty much the story of last season to a tee

Refs were definitely in Buffalo's pocket last night. At least two of those calls were just run-of-the-mill stick-work that wouldn't be penalized 9 times out of 10, not to mention the missed calls for hits on Fabbri and Larkin.

They really need to figure out what's going on in the 3rd period, can't keep just sitting back and hoping for the clock to hit zero. Need to keep their foot on the gas.

When you change the forecheck to a one man...and flip the puck consistently out of the zone...you have zero possession time

The 1st period was amazing but they took there foot off the gas in the 3rd and nearly cost them. Hopefully they can figure it out soon but with Kane possibly making his debut on Thursday things can change real soon. #LGRW

It’s so weird to me how he’s been the “hockey guy” at ESPN for years, but when he’s on the broadcast he sounds like he just started watching hockey this year. So many comments that sound like something a guy would say when they don’t watch hockey but want to sound like they do.

Nothing was as brutal to listen to than the NYR game. They mat not be very knowledgable but at least they had some good energy and werent completely biased.

Larkin looked a bit tentative on that 3rd goal turnover, was really upset with himself. Hopefully he can bounce back from that unscheduled chiropractic adjustment and come back at it next game 100%.

I think the 3-4 boarding calls not called and ticky tacky penalties called after was very confusing to the players. If the NHL wants to continue not to protect players, then I can't watch this crap. The one on Fabri was ridiculous, Johnson left his feet and hit him backwards in the numbers into the freaking glass, thats an inexcusable non call especially if Fabric got hurt which they were lucky he didn't. Had actual penalties like that been called then I don't think you have as many penalties called on the wings because they are not taking shots on Buffalo to protect themselves, but I have no problems with players getting their sticks up on the other team when the other team is taking runs at all our players, this is one game, there's 58 more to go, and id rather have "bad" penalties from players who are trying to protect themselves so they can play the whole season, then guys getting injured because the NHL wants to make a game that should've been a blowout into a close one.

Make the officiating actually fair, instead of deciding, “oh hey 👋 The wings are about to turn this into a blowout, so we better do something to make it closer!” and your argument is moot. And, if you didn’t notice the uphill slant the wings were playing against after their 4th goal, you need to go back and take another look.

Boy these red wings are fun to watch.

This wings team is going to go deep into the playoffs if they keep playing like this. The game was going to be a complete blowout, until the “officials” took direction from the commissioner’s office, and stopped calling penalties on the Sabres. Gotta make’em close for the TV 📺 market you know 😳🙄

awood as always thanks for the best highlight packages on the tube..... officials were trash in this game, and buffalo was super salty about their failed season so far, but good grief they were dirty.

As a wings fan buffalos broadcast team is great.

This game was really tough to watch at points. Announcing, while not as bad as usual for ESPN, still not good; the refs might have been the most one sided I've seen all season; and the wings still back too much in the 3rd again.

not liking the team giving up big leads late recently. still, lots of firepower. that crosscheck on Larkin was fucking brutal and good to see him come back on and ice the win. Seider's PP goal looked great, that entire PP was the best shift i've seen from him this season. way to go Moose hopefully the goals start piling up for him. Fabs is a scoring machine if he can keep absorbing the monster hits. i'm ready for playoff hockey and i think the Wings are too.

All we need to do is focus on defense when we have these leads and the Wings could go on a nice run! We just let teams get back in it, just have to tighten up the D a little bit and we’re golden. GO WINGS!

red wings scare me in the 3rd period of games

if someone doesnt say some combination of "Holy Mackinaw", "Holy Jumpin" and then talk about Jock Straps hanging around various parts of the arena Im automatically let down.... of course if you're going to have that you need to have someone to low key bring him back in when he gets super excited about a fight and forgets there's a game going on still...

I am not a goalie expert either, but he reminds me of goalies I have watched in the past who don't have size like many goalies do today. He has to rely on movement and being more aggressive at cutting off angles in order to "play bigger" and take up more of the net. Maybe someone can educate me in this area. That said, he is fun as hell to watch and has been doing well, IMO.

On the Skinner Goal, it looked like it was a case of Lyon expected the shot to be taken quickly and stretched out. Skinner recognized it and was able to out-wait Lyon.

Awfully officiated game, I saw 4 missed calls just here in the highlights!! LGRW

The only person I enjoyed listening to on this entire broadcast was Kevin Weekes at the intermissions.

Someone needs to start dropping these cheapshots on our star players. Blatant slewfoot in the other game. Check right in the back on Larkin who has back issues

You can tell in the 2nd period that these commentators didn't want the wings to win. Just listen to the goal by Ras and the breakaway for Sprong

Hits from behind like a truck with no brakes have to stop or refs need to call those. Not cool.

Next is the sharks, after sucking the beginning of the year they happen to be peaking just as they face detroit. Anybody think this will be an easy win? Not me, however, playing our best we should do well.

Some of the worst play by play ive ever listened too. Its just a shame how bad these ESPN/TNT announcers are now.

I actually enjoy watching a lot of the opposing feeds so hear their insights on our team knowing I can always watch the highlights with ken and mick but it’s the nation broadcasts I can’t stand. The only one tolerable is the islanders guy that sometimes does the TNT feed other than that it’s all awful. I also don’t mind John Forslund either.
