22re unstable idle high idle troubleshooting ideas - NOT a How to, just a list of things to try.

Here are some trouble shooting ideas for a high or unstable idle. My idle was wandering and hunting anywhere between 250 rpm up to 3000 rpm every time I drove for 6 months. These are all the checks and tests I performed. I replaced my TPS, because it tested bad and I could not get it set properly and I replaced my idle adjustment screw. All other sensors tested fine and were not replaced. Most of the things I did, did NOT fix the idle but that doesn't mean they won't fix yours so I wanted to throw them out there.
Ultimately I believe I had an undetected vaccum leak somewhere in my EGR system or IACV because when I deleted those 2 systems my idle has been perfect every time I've driven for the last few weeks.

    Do you know why some throttle body have 4 vac line and some have 3 like yours

    I don't. The only thing I can think of is that mine (the earlier style) has an externally mounted IACV that has its own vac line going from inside the bore of the TB on the front side of the throttle plate to the IACV then to the Intake plenum. The later 1st gen models 88/89 have an IACV that is integral to the TB housing and don't have the vac line I have. So maybe that 4th one on top on the later style TB has something to do with the different style IACV? If yours has the 4th one I'd say trace it back and see what else it hooks to. I'd be interested to find out. I can ask around. I have a couple really knowledgeable friends.
