    I always enjoy the vids you make, I’m a gun guy, been a gun guy ever sense I was a boy. Grandpa bought me my first shotgun when I was 8. At 9 He bought me my first .22 lr. I had a fun childhood. Grandpa would shoot with me all the time. In high school I spent most of my money on fuel and reloading components hehe

    It's certainly quite shiny. The scope came on a stainless rifle I once bought. Although ugly and shiny it is a made in Japan unit and the optics are very clear and over all it is of decent quality. Too bad it was not black....

    if there is plenty of space in the case with a given load there will be wide variations in burn, depending on how the powder lays. With partial loads we used to use a piece of (real) cotton to keep the powder back against the primer.

    Some powders are more sensitive to load density than others. Best overall is to use a powder that fills a case to 80% density. Personally I do not like fillers or any other insert in a case as it can lead to pressure spikes and ringed chambers. To the best of my knowledge no powder manufacturer recommends the use of any type of filler for this reason.

    It's been over twenty-five years since I had any BL-C(2) powder, and when I had some I don't think I was loading much .222 Remington. I've no doubt it would be a good performer with 50 grain bullets as similar powder such as Winchester 748 works quite well for that purpose.

    That's hard to say with regards to factory made .222 cases as I dont think I've yet had one fail. I've had some .222 that I made out of .223 that got neck cracks after ten or fifteen reloads, but most of them are still usable. With neck sizing and occasional annealing the brass seems to hold up well, be it PPU, Winchester or Federal.

    Overall even the heaviest load is too slow, should be getting 3100 fps. This is typical of really old powder, it seems to get weak and performance suffers.

    whats the advantage of this over .223?

  • @314299

    @314299

    4 жыл бұрын

    There is no huge advantage of 222 over 223, performance wise they are similar if you shoot 55 grain and lighter bullets. Most people are probably better off getting a 223 as the ammo is more plentiful. For the die hard bullet caster the 222 is "better" as it has a case neck more suited to cast bullets.

    When it comes to 22 center fires I am a 223/5.56 guy myself. I try and buy guns in calibers I already have, less to reload. I would like a 222 though, its a hunters caliber.

  • @314299

    For someone already set up to reload 223 adding 222 is just the cost of a set of dies, and often a set of good used 222 dies can be had for $20-$30.
