love the 22lr tests and SD discussion, keep it up! great work!

I knew this about Velocitors and Stingers VS MiniMags in short barrels. The first two expand nicely but give you less penetration, the Minimags do not generally expamnd but they always flip over and thus also give you a good wound channel (during the flip) but penetrate deeper. I use Minimags as carry ammo in short barrels, but Stingers in longer ones. The stingers (and velocitors) really do best out of a longer barrel.

what do you think would be best out of a 4.5-5 inch barrel? i already run stinger through my rifle with and 18.5 inch barrel

another useful video, thanks! i sold off my ruger lcp 22lr, it just didn’t feel right to me. that said a favorite ccw is a ruger lcr 22lr snubbie revolver. i guess that 22lr loses some steam out if a lcr compared to the lcp. that said im very comfortable carrying the lcr in my locales. when i first got the lcr years ago i put 4 double taps of 22lr into center mass through 3” of old phone books and 1/2” of plywood at 10’ distance easily enough. works for my needs.

I think they both lose about the same amount of steam. Only a bolt action or lever action retain full power

I have looked at a fair amount of gel testing and those 40gr solid minimags just always seem to bring it.

Just got a Lite Rack and if the mini mags cycle well, it will be my carry ammo. Thanks, man!

Look at the wound channel difference.

Looks like you may have moved on from testing 22s out of the LCP II. But, I'd sure be interested in a test of the Aguila 38 gr HP out of this little pistol. It's a little faster than the 40 gr and almost the same weight. Thanks for the vids!

I'll put that on my to-do list for 2022! Thanks for the suggestion. I didn't know how much interest there'd be in additional .22 tests, but this being the year of the 22, I shall have to do a bunch! (It's February in northern Minnesota right now, and no gel block would survive for long. We haven't been above about 5 degrees Fahrenheit since last week, and it looks like another bad week here, but spring will come! Some day. Sigh.)

Not only did the Mini Mag penetrate just as far as the Velocitors, they tumbled. Can't imagine that the hollow points in the Velocitors would slow them down that much.

I first time trying my new CCII 22 LR from CZ p07 22lr i got box of 10x 50 rounds it has bigger Hollowpoint its 40grain! And the speed is Superior Which i know is not from pistol as much but it might expand but not bought for because of that but the accuracy etc!

Great test. I don't worry too much about the 4 layers of denim as this is a 22LR pocket gun and the layers of denim probably wont make any difference in performance.

Probably about four feet. I shoot pretty close when I do gel.

CCI makes solid point Velocitors? I thought they were all HP.

@@thirdlantern I thought they did, not sure. With a .22lr I’m going for max penetration. So far only round 100% reliable in my LCPII is CCI Punch

My favorite source of MiniMags? LOL, a gift out of my mom's stockpile! I found them at one of the local hardware chains up here last summer, but I didn't buy any because I had 300 left. The Velociters are mostly new. I have several hundred of them too now.

Nope. I've been looking at some 40 cal Silver Tips, but I don't think that's what people want to see, LOL! (Actually, I might do it anyway.) Do Silver Tips come in .22? I've tested the 22 Magnum PDX-1s by Winchester. They're not bad.

@@GeographyCzar they do have Silvertips in .22lr, yes. They are segmenting bullets. Don't seem to do too well from short barrels, segmentation-wise...

@@rob6850 thanks...I inadvertently bought some silvertips recently and wondered if I'd wasted money...the only believable video I've seen kinda left it up in the air, I guess if all we had use 'em, but maybe not best option...

The only difference that I see between the Mini Mags and the Velocitor is the price of the ammo.

Short barreled 22LR pistols IMO are best with whatever they are most reliable with as performance of the ammo is mostly about the same.

It sure looks that way...I wasn't expecting any expansion from either round, and the penetration is fair to middling...gotta think it comes down to reliably cycling the gun all 11 rounds, and under stress maybe hitting 2 or 3 unless a very cool customer...at 5 yards our lcp ll is accurate enough and those 11 rounds can let go in a hurry, but I gotta wonder (probably best if never have to real world test)...the flip side is the gun is easy to handle and conceal, which does count some...

I'm in the market for one of these little guys. I live on private property and want a little mailbox gun. Good review, subbed

Doesn't look like any of the hollow points expanded, however, the hollow points probably would have had they been fired from a rifle. 🇺🇲

you need a bare minimum 4-5 inch barrel for the HO to expand. They just cant get up to expandable velocity out of the small barrel.
