22/23 Ride boots reviews (3) pairs

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Since riding for me this season is not my strong point for riding clips; I feel sharing knowledge on equipment should be very helpful for all riders; whether you're just starting to shred or have a number of years under the belt already!
These observation are my own opinions and not influenced by the manufacture but show the products as I freely under no obligation to them other then being a buying customer. Every brand of boot out there can be looked at and tested using this video to help you match the boot to your riding needs/ expectations.
It goes without saying higher prices means more bells & whistles and longer lasting gear! I don't think you'll find another channel that has gone this deep to spread the shred?
All the best Jim & Ted

Missed out on a pair of insano at 150 euros, it fits like a glove too, still kicking myself for that decision now 😂

Very nice review. I had never considered weight as a factor for boot selection. Always learning! Thanks. Edit, I also appreciate the flex mockup at the end of the video. Good visual.

Thanks for the very informative video, may I ask about the sizes you bought in mondo and the size of your foot in cm? I read in a lot of forums that Ride boots run half to one full-size larger.

I have generally bought my boots in my shoe size's some companies were a little small some were a little big it definitely varies a lot, no consistent sizing across the board. Lately in the Ride boots a 12/ 30.0 was a comfortable wear but is a little loose in fit after packing down. So I started to buy a 11.5/ 29.5 for a more performance fit tight at first but just right after break in, hope this helps?

i have tried lasso and ride anchor(softer version of fuse with same mold i believe). i find that ride anchor isn't so true to size compared to other ride models. Its half size bigger, meaning i need to size down. Do you find that to be the case?

I had the Lasso but didn't like the flex it wasn't stiff enough for me and I don't like the standard tongue liner. I much prefer the taco rap it provides a better fit and hold in the heel pocket. I would like to see them put a power strap on the boots, but size wise no issues other than half size availability for 11-12+!

Here's my PSA. Be mindful when purchasing low profile boots (such as the Ride Fuses). I bought a pair and had them professionally fit only to find that they still caused insane foot pain 2 seasons after purchasing. I immediately thought it was the bindings and bought new bindings (nope). Thought it was my boards width (nope). Thought maybe I'm just out of shape and started doing foot stretches and exercises (nope). It turns out because they are low profile they don't sit snuggly in the heelcup of most bindings so anytime when you are trying to drive your toe side edge, the boot will slip out of the heelcup and leave you trying to drive the board with the balls of your feet and your toes. This causes severe foot fatigue and pain in that area that is fighting for stability and drive. They are good boots but they need to work with your bindings. What bindings work with these boots? No idea. Maybe something in the Ride lineup but my Stratas, NOW Drives, and Rome Katanas all do not work with these, especially the NOW Drives.

Sorry to hear about so much foot pain. I've worn a lot of different boots over the last 30 years and one of the most important things i've come up with is changing the foot bed to a good heat molded insole. Not having a high arch foot and a small ankle I like the Fuse especially with the taco warp liner. I also learned though & trail and error to tighten the internal BOA in the shin area prior to lacing up; this pulls my heel back deep in the pocket and I have no movement inside the boot! However it additionally sounds like you are have a boot binding issues, so it is interesting? Maybe you should look at the compatibility by taking whatever boot feels the best to you and ask to fit it into a binding while in the shop? Hope you find and way to get rid of the pain and a ride that works for your shredding! Thanks for your input and insight!

I currently have the ride lasso, the grip on the bottom wasn’t great and makes me look at the lasso pro as a possible upgrade

I will absolutely agree on the weak tread pattern on the Lasso boot very little grip! Thanks for bringing that out, additionally the BOA cables are kinking seems like they should have used kevlar cables in the future!

Hi Jim, did you find that the Fuse ran TTS with your mondo size? I found that with the Lasso Pros, they ran half a size large. It's a shame because I am on the bottom of the sizes that they offer, wearing a 7. Hoping that the Fuse fit more TTS because I am a fan of the Ride tongue tied system. Also would like your input if you think the boot will be too stiff for a 165-170 lb rider as an all mountain free style boot? Stoked!

Interesting question? Something which requires direction meaning what is your intent for the boot as a daily driver and discipline, plus the area of use backcountry or resort which may or may not have runs wide enough to let it out? So for me the boot fit very well since I have a low arch and shoe size of 11.5 but generally I need a 12, as one foot is slightly longer. So additionally I use a solid insole with great arch support which pulls my toes back slightly to avoid toe bang. The flex is tight and has some limited movement stop my flexing deeper, but adding inclination you can fire it up on edge . So in general fire up the input and ride it like you own and you'll love it!

How do you find the width of the Fuse's? I have a slightly wider than normal foot. I have a pair of Salomon Dialog boots but I'm finding they are starting to pinch just a bit on the widest portion of my foot.

Derek, I find the width of the fuse boot to be sufficient for my foot. So considering I have kind of flat arches I use a aftermarket footbed from insole and it has a excellent arch support which brings my foot up to a more neutral position allowing good spacing on both sides to be comfortable and there’s no pinch, especially if you get it heat molded. It’s a great intuition liner completely warm and I find it very comfortable. I used to ride Flow boats a lot and times I would get a black toenails, hope that helps? But of course try them for a good twenty minutes in the shop before paying! Plus they are a stiff boot, more performance good for a heavier rider!
