Many creative industries have already been gutted by corporate tech greed. This is really pivotal for all creatives who work for industries who don’t really understand their value. The entertainment industry has more sophisticated union protection structures that others don’t. They need to succeed for the sake of all Americans.

I know this is probably a stupid question, but when the pandemic was happening, Jimmy Fallon, Kimmel, Colbert, and Seth Meyers all did their late night shows from home. It didn’t seem like they necessarily used riders or needed them. Seth Meyers more obviously used writers, but Fallon would often have his kids in the video and do walks with his wife etc.. I am wondering if they are just not doing these videos because they are in support of the writers strike because they could do this on their own they don’t necessarily have to do skits. People just want to see them Talk about anything

Adam, thank you for explaining this! These streaming services also don't share ratings - even with their talent. A comedian can have a number one special but know absolutely nothing about its performance, which makes it nearly impossible to get their fair wage for their next special, if one moves forward with a streaming service. CEOs are hiding shit so they don't have to pay the people doing the work, because capitalism. The WGA strike is so needed to set precedents and stand up to the assholes making terrible decisions but doing none of the creative work.

Appreciate that you gave some time to talk about the strike on your pod - very interesting and informative. I had a vague sense the strike was happening but didn’t know any of the details.

I don’t remember much from my high school algebra class, but I do remember our teacher said to the class on the first day to not hold our farts in. She told us that is how her sister died.

A.I. needs the tech x money to reach a level to make scripts and movies. Plus it doesn't run on a ethereal realm, it needs a physical location for servers to be on plus electricity to run so the money wouldn't be in it.

Striking is useful for protecting a small group of people and I fully support writers looking out for themselves. The real changes necessary to stop the race to the bottom working people are in won’t come from the 11% of American workers lucky enough to have a union representing them striking. The ruling class needs to be scared of us. Their children need to be scared of us. They need to fear for their future every moment the same way we do.

No offense, but that dude telling his hot gf that he's bothered by her farts is not the move. Many women have these petty "icks" where they'll find a guy off putting for showing weakness, vulnerability and/or not seeming sufficiently masculine-- and a guy being triggered by a girl's farts may very well elicit that reaction from her. She may think to herself, "I'm out of his league, and yet he's not even man enough to tolerate my farts". Just sayin'

I KNOW that these people are here to be funny while also informing us about this strike, but there is something still so phony to me about their concern when it's coming from the mouths of three multimillionaires who could go on strike for the next decade without feeling it's financial burden. You can't find ONE funny writer who's ACTUALLY struggling, to give their story? (I'm sure they are not busy 😅)
