Can you win the CrossFit Games without steroids, testosterone replacement therapy, or any performance enhancing drugs? There is a lot of controversy around this whether CrossFit Games athletes are 'natty' or natural or if they're all on PEDs. There's not a lot of transparency around anti-doping or drug-testing in the sport. I'm in favor of regular and random drug-testing for CrossFit athletes (including masters athletes) year round!

    Maybe you could have a short video explaining about different Crossfit variants ? What is Mayham Masters? What's different from others like Normal Crossfit? Crossfit Legends? New to crossfit I have no clue what's what. Like a little introduction into Crossfit competition ? I would like to follow some program, but how does one know what should they choose.

  • @JasonGrubb

    @JasonGrubb

    Great idea Valdis! I forget sometimes that not everyone knows all the lingo and how to dive into the deep end of competition. A quick answer is that Mayham Masters is specific programming ffrom CrossFit Mayham for older athletes and it has different skill/fitness levels built in. It’s the track I use personally. I’d say normal CrossFit is whatever your CrossFit gym (box) is programming. So depending if you’re training solo or at a gym… looking to compete or just achieve solid fitness… you’d have different options. CrossFit Legends is a large masters competition held every year. Hope that helps and I’ll remember to explain more in future videos!

I'm 69 years old, will be 70 in July and I take 300 mg of testosterone per week as prescribed by my doctor. I have no idea if that would DQ me from crossfit competition or, for the matter of that, from Hyrox. But I'm about s far from being a candidate for testing as can be imagined. Some people are blessed with the ability to keep their test levels into their 50s and 60s, but others suffer from depressed levels. I see no problem in them taking test to bring them back to "normal" levels and even compete. Just my 2 cents 😄

    This is either awesome or the most outrageous low character fraud imaginable. Or just a stupid test. Imagine a man who is 47 who believes you, supports you, and thus thinks that if he can simply eat more, sleep enough, and train hard/smart, he can also achieve huge gains. So he follows to a T, and yet falls woefully short given he is not boosting his T and EPO. Then he feels like a total failure, lost. That would be really sad, yet it happens when athletes lie about their use. Yet I understand it; it's war, life or death, sponsorship money on the line, so I suppose you have to say what you have to say, and let it be a stupid test to those that want to believe. That said, Jason, I actually believe you. And this is a revelation. I never thought at this age one could be elite without boosting their levels. You mean to tell me I have a chance?

Some people have good genetics and some people get to their limit and need help to push past their natural limit. It doesn’t matter the sport, PEDs are there whether people like it or not.
