When I was younger I would lay on the floor of our tv room and listen to this song, imagining what it would look like if it was a Broadway show and now here we are! I really hope I can see this show soon in person, from everything I’ve seen it’s just as magical as I could have hoped for.

Awwwwww she was obviously a bit sick, and yet it's still such a good performance💕 And the journey to the past is the movie version, so she had to sing a bit faster and adjust to the different layout. UGH I LOVE HER SO MUCH

I'm sure that these days, for anything live that has to be in sync with recorded materials (whether sound or video), there's a click track. Basically, the conductor (or maybe also musicians) are listening to a metronome to tell them how fast they are supposed to play. As long as Christy is in sync with the orchestra, she will be in sync with the video.

It’s pretty strange that a lot of people want Anastasia to become an official Disney Princess, since Disney owns Fox now

Christy is soo amazing... I didn't even notice she was sick .. such an inspiration

She held it so well together, she must be either a little under the weather or overworked vocally. The holidays usually demand a lot of performers because so many flood in to see THE original lead. So from Thanksgiving to Christmas they seldom get a break. Granted maybe one or two days a week an understudy might cover at the most but most leads try to tough it out and also push their vocal chords. That's why in January you're more likely to see an understudy performance. Everyone's recovering.

Well, she's just in sync with the music like any singer would be. The og music is synced with the animation. Although the performance is really impressive, synchronizing the music with the video was the easiest thing of it all

@@ellesbelles64 on that same note, Christy is a fan of Anastasia, so she probably grew up singing along to this exact version of the song and therefore is familiar and comfortable with the original phrasing and breathing choices.

As a child I dreamed of this show, I would run around in my moms prom dress singing journey to the past- and its a role I plan on achieving one day! This is such a special show. Christy is a Powerhouse- i'm so proud of her, and I aspire to be at her level one day! (p.s I would LOVE a "Journey to the Past" cover competition or something... that would be so fun.)

Liz Callaway is amazing..I remember back in 1997 when I heard her voice .it was so enchanting and almost heavenly..the purity of her vocals made me believe there is good in the world amidst the turmoil..the composer Flaherty had her sing it at 1 am and he was astounded how long she held that last note and then of course he awarded her the singing role in the 1997 Anastasia movie

I wish my Babcia (Polish for grandma) was still alive. I remember going to the movie theater with her and my dad to watch Anastasia, we were so in love with the story. Sharing the musical with her would have been amazing!

It always amazes me how long she keeps that final note! She seems to keep it longer than the song even requires, haha

Yes, I would imagine Don Bluth loving the Broadway adaption of "Anastasia", as well as his longtime partner Gary Goldman.

The soundtrack of the musical is never going to be as good as the movie.

This song with a melody composer by Stephen Flaherty is literally the best animation song ever..what distinguishes this song from others is that from the very first word there is a constant melody going on with each note not just a melody at the crescendo at the end. It differs from the popular Frozen song where the first 7 lines really have no melody it's like Anna is just talking to you and then at some point a melody and crescendo start What Mr. Flaherty has achieved in having every word and sentence have a melody is genius.

I listen and belt out to this song whenever I drive in traffic on my way to night classes -- it soothes everything 😌

Christy is so humble and embraces the role with so much infectious enthusiasm... you can immediately tell she was always a fan, and that the role is something she has always dreamed of. This song always brings me to tears with the amount of emotion she brings. UGH I WANT TO SEE IT AGAIN AND AGAIN!!
