    @wobbly nostrils clearly you havent shot a gun. When setting up a scope it would take about 3-4 shots before correctly aligning/adjusting the crosshairs to where the shots are actually gonna land. And for them they didnt have the bullets nor the time to do that

    It is actually called 20mm APDS Armor Piercing Discarding Sabot. SLAP means Sabot Light Armor Penetrator. Pretty much the same thing. Different terms.

    Update : if u didn't catch it go back to 6:31 u will see a part of the tracer compound raining down on us right about when we get up . Some people caught it . I thought it was pretty cool .     Pure titanium is quite soft. It must be alloyed with other metals to create an alloy resistant to penetration by projectiles.

    ​@@Zamani736no. You can't carbonize Ti like that. It's down to the structure of titanium bonds. Most commonly Ti is alloyed with aluminum and vanadium (TiAl6V). Don't answer questions if you don't know the answers.

    ​​@@hoppeanofasgard1365This. The A10 used titanium to armor the cockpit specifically against this type of weapon. I'm not sure how thick or what type, but the point is 30mil would probably not penetrate all the way through.

    To truly test it, the titanium needs to "not move" so it can absorb the entire force of the impact. Letting it fly back 30 yards from initial contact gives inaccurate results.

    I worked as a aerospace machinist for many years and I can tell Titanium is one of the most difficult materials to machine. Not the most difficult however. But you have to watch it close, if you see just one spark the cutting insert is done and the machine is about crash.

    Re: No bulging on the back of the target. Titanium tends to burn. You can see a lot of sparks when the 20mm round hits. So it may be that the energy of the hit goes into the burning of the Titanium on the front of the target instead of deforming the metal as you would expect on a steel target.

    That’s surely an expensive camera that he’s using and to get slomo guys level that’s much more expensive. The quality will always be lower as the speed of camera increases. They didn’t record this with some iPhone camera I’m sure.

    I think the armor piercing or Tungsten would be better, but I remember when I was in the Navy the CIWS gun would shoot 20MM depleted Uranium rounds.

    USAF 2W1 here. The M61A1 on the F-16 fires these exact electrically primed rounds. However the gun can fire them at 7200 a minute (120 a second), we usually drop them down to about 5400 (90 a second) due to slack issues and to give better bore control due to shock relapse. Between the GAU-8 and the M61A1, both I can take apart blind folded and put together without tech data. With that said, the M61A1 is my favorite to assemble, the GAU-8 though, by far the easiest to assemble in the chassis (M61 sucks for installing into the F-16 chassis). We usually fire TP (blue) but depending on the role in live fire we prefer AP and HEI (High explosive incendiary). It'll melt tanks and anything as or less armored from about .8-1.7 miles away in flight.

    This is the first channel I have ever subscribed to cause you guys seem to have a lot of fun and at the same time it's quite interesting. Have you thought about doing this at night, it looks amazing!! Also, as I understand it, the way titanium bonds together bulging of any sort is most likely always going to be minor.
