    I've been making tile coasters and having trouble with the epoxy resin coating. No matter how clean I get the tile, the epoxy sometimes pulls away from the edges. I have tried to apply the resin and then 15 minutes or so I go back over the edges with my gloved finger. This is sometimes helpful. So far, I have to apply 2 layers of resin on most of my coasters. Help! PS- Your art is so beautiful!

    Thanks for the great video you make it look so easy. I have a quick question I hope you can help with. I am new to fluid art and resining and live in Canada and it’s finally just starting to warm up a bit but I have an issue with the sides of my coasters rippling no matter how much I wipe the edges down they look smooth but then when they dry they are wavy. I use mdf board for the coasters instead of tiles. I have tried heating the room to 24c and heating the resin first but to no avail they still do it. I need to know if you can tell me what I’m doing wrong because it is so annoying and it just ruins them. Thanks in advance.

  • @venomfluidart

    @venomfluidart

    Жыл бұрын

    Alot of the time its because the paint en the sides isn't flat, it has ripples in it that you don't notice till the resin is on and even though it looks flat when the resin is wet, it self levels as it cures. On a canvas or something with a thick edge I'll tape it up, resin the top then 12-24 hrs later remove the tape and brush the resin on the edge.

    Thanks for all the advice in this video. My problem seems to be pulling away from the edges and dust particles. I've learned quite a lot, like breaking up the surface tension to help stop the pulling away from the edges and the extra little pour. I'm new at this and so far have had to apply two coats to my pieces, so hoping now that I will get good results from the first pour. You had a lot of items so what did you use to cover this large space?

    Hey mate, thank you for your ever informative videos 👌 I was just wondering what you recommend for resining in cooler weather? I'm in nsw, and it's finally starting to get cool (I like it, but I know resin doesn't 😂). Besides warming my resin beforehand, can I just heat the space with a heater, or do you recommend a heat mat or some other fantastical idea? Cheers 🇦🇺

  • @venomfluidart

    Hey krissy, I'm in nsw also so during winter I cheat... my garage is way to big to heat so I get a big plastic tub that fits over my pieces I've coated in resin, cut a hole in the bottom of the tub so a halogen spotlight can fit in . I flip the box upside down and sit the light ontop shining into the box through the hole. The heat from the 100w halogen light keeps the air inside the tub at 26 degrees c. Works like a charm mate 👌
