This engine is also planned for the new Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line and the latest Skoda Superb, set to launch in 2025. This new engine represents a significant upgrade from the current Kodiaq RS, which boasts 180 kilowatts and 370 Newton-meters of torque.
The outgoing Kodiaq RS shares its engine with the top-tier version of the Tiguan sold in Europe, just below the flagship R model. This strategy is likely to continue with the new generation. Paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, the new Kodiaq RS promises enhanced performance. The current 180-kilowatt model can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 6.6 seconds. With more power and a potentially larger, sturdier body, the new model is expected to be even quicker.
The regular Kodiaq range will be available in Australian showrooms this November, equipped with a single 150-kilowatt version of the same 2.0-litre turbocharged engine. Although pricing and full specifications for the new Kodiaq RS are yet to be revealed, it’s anticipated that the larger body and new technology will come with a price increase. The current entry-level model starts at $56,490 drive-away, while the 180-kilowatt RS version is priced at $76,890 drive-away.
