2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N First Drive Review | Hyundai Builds A Track Ready EV To Rival... Porsche?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 was one of the top selling EVs in its class last year, but the N division got their hands on it and wanted more, a lot more. Enter the 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5N, the most powerful Hyundai vehicle ever put into production and quite possibly one of the most fun electric vehicles ever built. With a maximum 641 horsepower, 0-60 times in the low 3's, and a suspension designed to handle everything from the track to your kids school run you'll be hard pressed to drive it without a smile on your face. Oh, and did I mention it comes in well under six figures?

How is it a big step above the EV6 GT? It’s barely quicker, has about the same range even though it has a bigger battery, and it costs more. How many people are going to track an EV anyway? If I want engine sounds, I’ll drive an ice car and get real ones. And in my opinion, the EV6 looks much better. The Hyundai is leaning towards a boy racer look.

@@michaelc2254 Because EV6 GT is literally, GT car, fast car for long comfort trip, I mean EV6 GT is not legit track toy, it might barely endure single lap of Nurburgring but Ioniq 5 N is not. This is legit track toy for enthusiasts. It can take several laps of Nurburgring because its break system, battery can take it.

can someone explain how its more cost effective to make two separate light assemblies than 1? US version have two red blocks that are BOTH brake and turn signal. other countries have a line of orange below for the turn signal. i know USA has minimum light up area regulations but surely the lower row meets that. just look at newer mazda turn signals, they're tiny but orange and clearly visible. plus the science says orange is more noticeable and common sense says don't turn your brake lights into turn signals. seems like the effort to make two separate lights would be more expensive than one assembly.

@@james2042 Really?! I feel like there's no logic in that. Then again, most people probably don't use the turn signals anyway... They're supposed to be for safety not for looks. There's a surprising amount of times someone with a red turn signal on will brake in a manner that makes it seem like their hazards are on instead of doing hard braking. It's never easy dealing with that.

Honestly my biggest complaint with evs at this point is how it really doesnt save money on fuel cost compared to a hybrid. Cost per mile is about the same. I had a 2020 ioniq ev, the one that was the compliance vehicle. Real world that got 5.5-6mi/kwh, that is the only ev ive ever seen where it actually was more cost efficient than a comparable hybrid, and even then it was a highly compromised, hyper efficiency focused vehicle.

@AAutoBuyersGuide I'm in NY, it's 19c/kWh including all fees. Where my mom lives, 40 minutes away, it's 11c/kWh. I actually got solar on my house because it's outright cheaper than their absurd rates, just for a 900sqft house and 1 person my electric bill without the EV is 100+ a month. They also have no programs for ev owners of course. There's places near me that are over 20c and more like my moms where it's 10-15c, and ev programs vary wildly company to company. It's a mess and I'll happily wait another 10-15 years before considering buying something with a plug again

Fake shifts on cvt's was due to people bringing their cars back to the dealer thinking something was wrong because it didn't make the "vrrrrr-vrrrr" sound of shifting. Then when dealers tried explaining nothing was wrong with the car and it was operating as intended. People of course believed the dealers were lying so the turnover rate was super high on these cars. They had to quietly introduce it so people would buy their cars again
